RANT: Those BEEPing popup ads!

So I show up at this site after a long abscence, on a mission to find some Blueprints, and post my creations, when I first get BOMBED by popup ads! Then, about three or four programs want to install themselves. Do you want to install the Widdleydiddeley Search bar that arbitrarily helps you search better than Google while really hijacking your browser so your start page is their popup ad website that constantly places thousands of cookies that monitor every byte on your computer and sends it to them so they can blast you with more ads? Then, I go to type in a reply to a post I made and in the middle of my typing my browser the browser suddenly gets very small and loads a popup ad. I think, what the bejesus? The ad just hijacked my browser! I hit back, and then another flurry of fake search bars want to install. I don't want another bar on IE, BEEPit! I have enough already! No, No, No, No, No! X, X, X, X, X, X, I kill all four thousand concurrent popups! Then, I fire up the Yahoo bar's pop-up blocker. Well, good riddance to the popups, but then, IE gets very small again! Fourty-two rude words later, I finally back up to where I was before the hijacking episode. :x I hate popups!

The google toolbar does a great job blocking all those popups for me.

dont get a single one when I visit the site .. try it out.

Hmm.. I have the Google toolbar a long time, but still get thos pop-ups... Maybe I should install pop-up block orsomething..
But hey, I can live with it

Has anyone else had the brower hijacking episode, where the popup doesn't pop up, but steals the window that is currently open?

i don't know about IE that much .... but as for me i use Netscape 7.1

its really doing a great job but blocking those pupup ads, why don't you try it out.

Netscape based open source browser. Works pretty good and comes with a few other goodies.

I use AD popup killer and i've turned off the messenger service so never get any pop-ups.

I've used Mozilla forever, I haven't seen a pop-up in the past year or so...occasionally you'll have to hold shift to allow a new window to open, but otherwise it rocks. I don't even see most banner ads.

i use opera 7 with popup blocker enabled, i didnt even know this site had popups....

This one just begs to be locked. No topics complaining about advertisements.

Without the ads, this forum isn't even possible. Unless you want us to start charging $29.95 a month for membership... yeah, thought so.
