The PS3 didn't have a good entry into the video-game console market, and I think the only thing that hauled 'em through was their fan-base. I personally think they should've sat on the idea for a year.

As for the loudness of a console...Why would you want to know the loudness of a console when you play all the games on it with the sound on? It drowns out any minute noise produced by the console anyway.
