A thought?

Hi,
I had a thought a few days ago. Just imagine Gran Turismo 3, GTA Vice City and Need For Speed Underground rolled into one game! A few friends of mine and myself are thinking of trying to create a game using things from these games. I may sound like a big job but I think we can do it. Any way, I would like to ask if any buddying modellers out there wold like to help by modelling vehicles for this game. If your interested, please either PM me, post here or send an email to llennapj@hotmail.com

Thanks, Simulator.

PS: Also, if you have any ideas for this game as well please post here. My friends and I have done some planning which I may share with you when I post again.

Back from the dead. lol. Ages since I've been here.

Sounds like a very good idea but it is VERY BIG job to do.
I know 'cause even a simple mod is.

How many cars you've planned to make to it? And what brands?

Me and my friends are thinking of Toyotas, Lambos, Nissans, ect with a max of about 20 - 30 cars? (Not quite sure though, maybe less) :?:
YES it does sound like a big job but we are in no rush to finish it. Maybe a year or two as we have school work to focus on. This would just be a hobby like thing. Anyway, any other ideas are welcome.

You need a license to use those brands in a game which you're probably selling.. Don't forget that
As for the amount of cars, I think for a start (see below) 4 or 5 are enough, and later on expand that to about 30 indeed, and make it editable so people themselfs can make cars for it too

Same thing like Racer for instance So maybe it's an idea to start small, and then expand, just like Ruud did it. It will take some more time maybe, but that way you can litteraly play a stable version, and update it at the same time.. Hope that makes sense

Any idea's on tracks etc? City, outback, etc..?

Nice idea btw, and good luck

Oh yeah that.
But if you're making cars that looks like for example Skyline but named it different does it need license then? :?

Nope. You can use their designs, but you can't use their names
So naming an R34 Skyline, the R34 Groundline (lol), it's okay
Atleast, that's what I think...

You probably right about the amount of cars. I was a bit exaggerating on that ops:
With the lisence I was not plan on selling it. Just as a hobby to teach myself for (hopefully) a future in game design.
Tracks, maybe a small city of an area. Not sure on actual based or fictional.
Making it editable for people to create their own cars, ect. Not sure on the file format for the models. If you have an idea on the file format please post.
Thanks for all the ideas though.

I have thought of that idea myself and was hoping that one day a game programming company would do something like it. As far as for you guys thats going to be alot of freaking work. It makes my head hurt just thinking about it. Grantourismo graphics and its racing physics mixed with Gran Theft Auto gameplay with guns, hoes and gangs in the streets with Need for Speed like cars and police pursuits along with a bunch of other stuff. That surely would be a dream come true.
