... and NOT rescued vehicles...
Hi all,
Now that I am at it, I took some more pictures today at an old mate' s place. He had a breakers yard / garage for many years, doing only American made cars. Sadly, demand for these cars parts collapsed over recent years, so he closed the place down... I visited him yesterday - first time in many years, I must admit - to borrow a towbar to get the donor-DAF I bought a few days ago to my place ( see " rescued vehicle " at http://www.smcars.net/forums/index.php?topic=19941.0 ) When I returned him the towbar today, I had my camera with me, so I could capture the last remains of some cars left to rot... Sad, isn' t it ? Peter ps: the very rusty 1962 Chevrolet Impala, was one of the cars he used to take us to the pub in the late seventies. He used to call it " Bomma " ( Grandma ) and in those days it was nearly impeccable. It has been standing there for almost 20 years now. sigh ! |

mmm... never found a Ferari scrapyard... but I ' ll try scanning some of my old Black and White photographs some day.
Meanwhile, here' s one of the cars seen in the above pictures, in about 1977 or 1978 if I am not mistaken. It certainly looked a bit more solid back then ![]() Peter |

What happened to it anyhow? Wreck, get tired of it etc. Its sad to see cars in junk yards, thinking of what they used to be and what path led to there current state. When ever I think like that I always think of the 'Brave little Toaster" lol the junkyard scene was cool, also had a catchy song if I remember.
