11500X5700 HDRI (my results)

Hi guys, i found this post on Cg-cars.net, i know a few of you visit that site regularly, but those who don't there was a really nice thread in making HDRI sceens. And the guy who made hdri-locations.com. Is giving up a free sample of his product (full rez). And i got some cool results. This isn't a pitch or anything, just trying to help people out, who like me might of had a hard time w/ HDRI's in the past and vray.

Thanks for comments on what i made from this guys work.

I had a hard time titling this thread, so if someone can think of something better please tell me.

It looks cool, have you tried changing the black and white balance when you import the hdr into max to see if you can get better results? I think you can get better results

I just had a lesson today about HDRs and how to take them so I hope to try and create some with my elise model later this year (probably next year now!).

Cars Owned: 2003 Rover 75 CDT (remapped, tuning box, air intake mods, 18" alloys) & 1973 MG Midget (undergoing large engine swap, 160hp in 600kg car!)

I found a really good tutorial here about taking HDRs and setting them up properly. I've just got to order some chrome balls to take the photos with - all the garden centres near me either didn't have them in stock or they thought I was asking for garden shears instead of garden spheres!

I'm ordering the balls from eBay, I've gotta wait till after xmas now until I next get some money in my account but it will be £44 for a 30cm ball and two 15cm balls which I intend to paint matt white and matt grey.

The hdr setup and material look a lot better now! I think the position of the car maybe slightly off, I think you maybe need to tweak the camera a little bit because the car seems to squat at the back - I think that's due to the perspective of the car not matching the background. Nice work though

I didn't see it mentioned here, but the HDRI kind donator is Thomas Suurland, a famous CG artist. His work is visible at : www.suurland.com One of the few who really motivated me some years ago to start CG cars.

Tom, many thanks !

Edit : by the way, there is some kind of mandatory mention to add to a render using the free sample. Don't forget to add the mention in your renders, everyone !
