Neon Tube Test Render / Scene

Hey guys

This is my first work posted here , I'm still a newbie in 3dsmax (5.0) but I think i'm learning pretty quick (or so I hope hehe) yesterday I was playing around with materials and done this , I hope you enjoy it

PS - test render for the material ... no shadows (i put the lights and turn on the shadows but they dont appear (using radiosity) )and the tube looks messed up but please mind the tube and the fact of there arent any shadows and please post coments

(If possible help me out with the shadows issue too)

Thanks , Bugga12

ok thats not too hard you will see

first open teh material editor and choose teh material of your neon (the one that produce light) and then choose material id 1 (click where its wrote 0 in blue (look at the pic 2.jpg )

now go under rendering/video post (look pic 1.jpg)

now that you are on video post, click on add Scene Event (look pic 3.jpg)
select perpsective view or camera 1 if you use a camera and then click ok
now click on add filter Event and choose lens effect glow and click setup.click on Objet ID and type 1 (because thats teh same number in the material editor).now go now go under preference tab and click user and the nchoose teh color you want for the glow.Play with the setting to get a great glow (click preview it help)

now click ok , you are normaly back at the video post main panel. Click on add image output Event. click on file (thats teh save directory and teh name of teh file so choose soemthing) now click ok

now at the left choose your image file name you just wrote and click on execute sequence. click on single at teh top and then render

hope this help! it was long to wrote but its not hard when you do it .fell free to ask me more question
