Well, whatever way you feel the render would look good, make it look that way. Don't worry about anyone liking the pics, aslong as you like it, everyone here should not have a negative opinion about it.

that's a very nice 3609 Modena lackadaisical. I like the way the smcar.net text on the side has a Ferrari-style Nice going

Some more ideas - can't SMCars have nearly 2 banners? Envoy, can you make a random banner script? It would be great(!) - one banner for tuned cars and one for exotics

Sorry, I didnt notice this question until now.
The flames comes from the Total Textures Vol. 8 CD, a commercial product from http://www.3dtotal.com

Since I planned to only render the car from one view I just detached the hood and planar mapped it with a UVW modifier, and then I planar mapped the rest of car body as well. I used the plugin texporter to get a image of the UVWmap and painted on that.
