Cool Anything Test Drive Unlimited

I'm suprised no-one's started a thread for this totally awesome game yet!! So here it goes,

Discuss ANYTHING Test Drive Unlimited, just like the title says. These things could be:

- Your favourite car, and cars you like to drive.
- Cars that are good for a particular purpose, ect, drifting.
- Places you like to cruise.
- Cool places you've found.
- Awesome things you've done.
- Any hints or tips you might have.

Have fun, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this truly awesome game!!

And I'll start it off,

My avatar in the game is sooo gangsta...You know, as soon as my guy steps out of his million-dollar mansion in his off-white suit, aviator sunglasses and white sneakers, he means business :-D

My favourite car in the game is by far the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. In red of course :-P It's one of my favourtie cars in real-life, and I couldn't wait to save up and buy it in the game. It's great to drive, and great to drift, although the AWD setup causes it to whip out of a drift quite harshly. One of the best places I've found to drift the Gallardo is the road coming DOWN from the Kuilei Beach Grand View house in the meteor crater. I OWN this road at drifting :-P

A car that I would highly recommend for drifting however is the Noble M12 GTO-3R, and the best place for it is the Ohau Speedway.

One of the first things I couldn't wait to do in TDU, even before it came out, was to cruise the runways of the airport. But sadly, when I actually got the game, the airport is completely locked off. However, there is a way of gaining entry, and the hint I'll give you is to use a motorbike :-P Once in, set a book-mark anywhere so you can spawn in with any car!! A downer about the airport runways is that unfortunately, they're dirt...or at least classed as dirt within the game's engine, so no hitting top speeds here :-(

Alrighty, that's about it from me!!

Oh, and drive the Ferrari 288 GTO in reverse :-P You'll know what I mean when you do it...

I'm also waiting for that (february 16th I think) but also my pc ain't strong enough so I gotta wait till summer .

The game really rocks. It's just what kuchkuch**nfs**kuchkuch could have been would the FnF series not have such an impact on it.

i dont know guys, i played the demo, sure the island is huge, sure it has nice cars, sure the graphics are insane, but there's nothing special about it, same old gameplay, race against opponent, race against time, if it was more san andreas style, then i'd be all over it, too bad

Driving games + Shooting/action do not mix well.

what? the GTA series are one of the best game series that have been released up to date imo.

@TDU
well let's see maybe i will check it out once the game is released for the comp. but then again it's just an arcade racer and it'll probably be pretty boring...

@mpfive: More SA style? What way? You can drive almost everywhere you want. I don't understand what SA's style has that TDU shóuld have. Peds? Guns? Damage (traffic has)? Insane Stunt bonusses?

@CLR, missions man, good story line, all TDU is about is getting from point to point b in different types of races, SA on the other hand, and VC and GTA3 all have a story line that requires you to do so many other things that do not require driving, for example a mission in SA where you had to swim to a cargo ship and get around teh spot lights and the patrolling boats and plant a bomb or what ever, those types of mission i like, and yes, it does require driving, from the point of the mission, to the point where you jump to the water, but GTA mixes it so well together

Driving games, should stick to driving games.

Action/Mission games, should stick to mission games.

If you want to avoid spotlights go play Splinter cell =/

Test drive is a race driving game, not a shooting mission game.

There is an Open PC Beta comming out on the 22th of January..
you need to have an acount at file planet or IGN..
just a free acount, i have heard there will be a key limit.

the game is comming out somewhere in February. YEAH!

i have seen all the movies on youtube, and im verry impressed, those cars, the sound, the graphics damn!! i can't wait!

i loved to have an rs4, and an ferrari f430 spyder, and then just drive for fun on the Island, enjoying the idea i have one of these exotics and enjoy the graphics ofcourse.

Okay, I think we're comparing totally DIFFERENT styles of games here guys, which isn't what this thread is about.

mpfive, I not only do I own the game, but I am really very into it and think it's the best driving game I've ever played. But as you said, the point-to-point driving is the same old stuff, and I will deffinately agree with you. However, this game is just about cruising around with mates. Like I care about the missions in the game!? All I care about is the money I need to buy my next car :-P

A word of warning before buying this game, is that this game is aimed at car enthusiasts...If you are looking for a game with cool missions and a storyline, this ain't it. If you want a game where the cars are awesome, the map is fantasic, and just cruising around is all you're after, this IS the game.

Also, if you want to know anything particular with regards to TDU, just ask!!

yeah the game is wicked but it has quite a lot of glitches, and I also dont like the hitchhiker missions they are too long n u dont even get money for it.
but the best thing imo is to get on a a class motorbike change camera to first person and drive at a high speed of a cliff, its quite cool, sometimes i jus try and drive over mountains when i am bored

crazy_989, yeah man...I agree with you totally with the Hitch-hiker missions an man, I have done everything in the game BUT those missions :-P

I also agree with you with the motorbikes. There is a fanastic straight, long road at the top of the map, running from the town in the middle, to the west of the map, and it is great for doing this!!

Hey all!! I just bought both the car packs for November and December off Xbox LIVE and I must say, they're alright!! There's an upgraded version of the Noble that I mentioned earlier that was great for drifting, and, well...this one's better for drifting :-P

What a was a little disappointed with was the fact that most of the cars in the car packs were just upgraded/different versions of cars already in the game :-P And still no sign of the car that won the 'Design A Car' TDU competition either!!

Oh, and check out a car called an Edonis V12...it's in one of the car packs. I've never heard of it before, but it looks purdy :-)

no, only fileplanet premium subscribers could get a beta, but not everyone, just a few....so he was lucky

sounds like they are only ripping their customers off, if it's the same with the PC version i don't think i would even consider buying it.

sure the feature with the online racing with your friends is great and i would like to do that, but if you have to always buy new stuff and in the end it's not an overall improvement i don't think this game would last long or be much fun for me.

just my 2 cents
