Cool Ship Simulator 2008

I know... I thought the same thing when I saw it... However, after reading up on it, it had me as intrigued as a big red button saying 'Don't Push' on the door of a lion's cage...

...So I downloa... BOUGHT it, you know, legally and stuff...

You know something? It's not THAT bad... Certainly the best of the simulators (flight, train, ect), and I think is a must for boaties. I don't think I've stopped playing it since around 2 days ago... It's a very in-depth game, and it's tought me a lot about the terminology used in boating. You can walk around almost all of the ships, and piloting the larger liners is suprisingly fun, if not a bit slow...

If you're interested in boats, new or old (Titanic!!), then I'd recommend looking into this game. It's got me quite interested in the idea to model a ship and try to get it into the game... I'm just having trouble trying to find an exporter since it's a fairly newish game.

All they need now is a mulitplayer mod for it!! Hoorah for P & O cruise-liner Death-Match!!

ROFL Titanic...... Yeah that sounds like it would be a gooe one to pilot.

On a serious note, it sounds like an interesting game. Does it have other characters (AI) that walk around as well? I mean if not then whos piloting these boats while your walking around exploring the corridors?

Unfortunately no...The ships are ghost empty. It would've been a nice addition too. The graphics are already pretty intense for a simulation game, and the poly-counts of the ships are through the roof, ESPECIALLY the Titanic.

One of the cool things with 1st person walk-around mode is that some of the ships have a few bridges to pilot from, i.e, control rooms hanging over the side of the ship so you can guide it into a dock. This means that instead of the main bridge, you can walk over to a different section of the craft where's there's throttle/thruster/steering controls, and pilot it from there. For instance, the P & O cruise-liner has 3 control decks, and the Titanic has a control deck right at the back of the ship for reversing...

The P & O liner is my favourtie out of all of the ships mainly because it's sweet to maneuover, and unlike the Titanic, doesn't take 5mins to achieve noticable movement :x

...Oh, and it has fog-horns!!
