Mugen Honda CR-X PRO. II

hey everybody. ive teporarilly stoped my other projects because i got burnt out, and i got rear ended in my honda del sol si, but i have a friend that is going to sell me a crx so i decided to start this project. ive had a hard time finding good quality reference pictures for the Mugen PRO. II body kit. so if you guys have some i could use the help.

heres some progress and a picture of the real deal

Its really hard to tell anything with that color scheme. Try just the basic lambert grey. A wireframe would be good too.

I must say It look's kinda boxy, from my point of view you did a better job on that Mustang Shelby .. then on this one , just look at more reference pictures and you'll see for your self where you made mistakes

yea i agree, but its still in the rough, and the crx is a bit boxy. the problem is i am having major trouble finding good reference pictures of a real mugen crx body kit. everything is either too small or not close enuff to give me a good view of what im looking for

My girl friend's uncle has one of these. I think his is an 85. The power to weight ratio is sweet.

update time. played with it a little bit over the weeked, when i wasnt moving crap and cleaning this new apartment. the wheels are just place holders for now, cuz i wanted to see how it looks, and the tail lights are just rough, ill define them a little later on.

C&C is welcome and appriciated.

2 weeks worth of updates, i havent had time to do as much as i wanted cuz my fience has been in and out of the hospital but her and our baby is ok.
anyways as always C&C is wanted and needed, be honest please, i want to get this as perfect as possible.

dan your a hero!! i wish i could afford that kit for my real car.
quick question, are those factory turn signals? the ones on my 90' crx si dont curve around the bumper.

We need to set a few facts out before I can answer your question.

The pictures I posted are of the Real and Authentic Mugen ProII Kit.

Wings west makes a similar kit that fits the north american crx and japanese crx pre-face lift.

The second generation crx has two different front ends, one with the raised hood and long headlights and wrap around signals. The other has inverted hood with short headlights and non-wrapping signals.

The pictures I posted is the mugen kit that is most common and the most sought after.
Mugen did make a front bumper for the pre-face lift crx front end that didn't have wrap around signals, but this is rare and not as sought after.

that ebay ad is selling the real mugen bumper for the crx pre-face lift

note the differences, as well as the non-wrapping signals.

You can tell a real from a fake, by the way the real mugen sideskirts have the mugen emblem in them. (see picture 14)

The real Pro II Mugen Kit has wrap around signals, I think the other bumper is just the Pro I.

I bet your american 90 si has a hood center that goes in rather than out, and you have the short headlights.

To do the conversion, you need matching hood, bumper and headlights. Fenders are the same in both cases only difference being the holes for the side marker lights.

ok did some looking at mine, i cant tell because i have a aftermarket hood, but i have a pre-face lift, but i have no big deal with using the wings west kit, im just wanting somthing other than the "type M flaired" kit i have.
but as far as the model, i will do that work on the hood that you noted.

other than that, can you see anything that i have missed or messed up so far?

The inlets in your bumper are too square, the bottom is at an angle and gets higher as it goes in.

I found a couple more, these are all the pictures I have with that kit, the rest of my crx pictures are with the factory bumpers. I could zip those up, but I don't know if they would help much.

well i could use the factory crx stuff too, i plan on modeling everything, since i want an all around idea of what my car will look like, also if you have some diecent pics of a D16Y8 that would be cool

got all the windows done finally, next i think im going to do the trim around the windshield and the hatch glass
