    Mazda3 2012 (AST)

Just started surfacing about an hour ago. I did a video about the logo. I spent a little too long on it, but I did that after a long break. Mazda 3 Tutorial - Alias Studio Tools (CLASS A) [Part 1] - YouTube

Anyway, i doubt I will make any more video's on youtube since i only have internet on my phone. I may make a few more video's and upload them way later. I got a job recently as a Product Development engineer. That has been the main explanation for my absence. I will try to work on this though and post my progress. Thanks!

About 80% accurate. For the time i spent on it (a couple hours), that's okay

Rims, and rotor done, tomorrow i will model the side, roof, and headlights, dig up some old tire treads, add a crease in the front intake, and do some renders

The whole A pillar fender blend got screwed up, ohh well i will fix it in photoshop

I am to impatient to make it 100% accurate. That is common for me, to just say screw It and move on. If I wasn't working full time i would try to make it perfect probably

It is what it is.... not very good. I am going to totally start over this weekend, and try to get closer to the real version. The render is very bad, but ohh well haha

I am going to keep re-doing this till 1) I give up, 2) It is more accurate.

Some more ugly renders. I haven't done any rendering in a year. I remembered now that I need to change a couple settings in vray to get rid of the noise. I am going to model an old BMW, or new Ferrari next. I am tired of this car already...

thanks, yeah i need to work on alias -> 3ds max conversion you can see where the surfaces touch and it makes it look crappy. THanks for the observation. I am working on the F-12 now, those blueprints beacon gave were gold.

I am spending more time on this. I totally started over from scratch. THe 3rd try i'm going to record it and post it on youtube. I want this to be slightly more accurate. I went out and took about 200 measurements on the actual car. For me accuracy on my surfacing starts from having a good spline cage to build my surfaces from, so i have been spending a TON of time on that, it has a long away to go. Just keep an eye on this project Looking back at the last model it was totally inaccurate, and the surfaces were off. Who knows i hope this second time is better.

TRY 2, i deleted and started over

VERY early still, i felt like showing how loose i lay out the surfaces first

I deleted this like 50 times to figure out the right surface layout and get the proportions correct. Now I will spam align for the next few hours, and then later details. Thank god this is just a hobby ahha

I still plan on making a youtube video of this eventually for the small alias community out there.

THis car has like 3 washouts on 1 surface, the most i've done before was 1 on the silverado. This is turning out to be a good challenging nurbs project for myself. I hope one day i can see it done. Remember, these are ONLY the primary surfaces haha
