    Nissan GT-R 35 (2009 version)

    Hi

This is my attempt to build a GT-R 35 (like many others so far)

    I'm using Rhinoceros 4.0 .
As blueprints, i did them by myself.

This is what i have til now, the car is very undetailed still, i'll do everything step by step.

Here are some shaded captures from my Rhino, as well as frames and basical mesh.

Techinque is NURBS of course. I just think i'll finish it, hopefully what i've done til now is good enough to be continued

Geat job buddy, all that time training and studing really paid off, you're doing an awesome job on the model, very promessing. Thumbs up dude.

    Ty Steve.

I'm starting to fillet something, and i did the bonnet's vents , which are in NACA style.
Here another shaded capture. I don't want to do any clay render at this point, i'll do them once the car will go on.

Here are the NURBS i've tracked, unfortunely i've already filletted and modified some parts at the time of this capture, that's why somewhere u see double lines, and some other line isn't exactly NURBS but rather edge.
Looking at the real car (picture #2) u can't see the front bumper in the right view. I know there's a lens distorsion, but it's not enough to justify a so big discrepance. That's why i've followed the photo doing that, and that's why also in that part my NURBS don't follow the blueprint.

Hi, nice progress so far. I have attached a picture with some problem areas I noticed. I think they come from the 3d blueprint you're using. The curves and shapes are not correct in many places. Anyway, interesting project Keep on it!

    Cheers,

Yep, i completely agree. Thank u for your feedback, i can fix it pretty easily even if it will be a bit long. But i want it as closer as possible to the real car, and comments like that are more than useful .
    So, resuming:
    1) the bonnet bumps should be longer
    2) The side panel is practically flat
    3) The bumper is a bit more curved so the under-vents take a different shape .
I'll fix it before to start the details

P.S i've just downloaded your pic, Exidge, to have a reference. Thank u again.

At the end, after some attempts to adjust the bumper and the side panels u mentioned, i've deleted the whole front part because it was impossible to keep fluency and shape together. So far i've rebuilt the side panels, to rebuild the front part requires time but i want it good so i don't care how many time it needs. I thought it was easy to fix, well...i was wrong...
Working with NURBS has surely some advantages compared to polymodeling, but if u wrong something, it's almost impossible to fix it, better to redo the whole part and amen.. Andre' Kutscherauer told me months ago but i had already forgot it

    First undetailed clay render.

Fixed the thing at the front/side lower panels, i've to fix the other 2 things still as Exidge rightly remarked before to start with details

    @ Exidge
To be exact it's plastic 75% rough trying to replicate (black) clay because i haven't that material in the render engine i've used
I think i'll keep the vents thing at the end, because i'm afraid it needs to redo the whole hood, i'll see it at the time of that fixing.
I'm actually redoing the front end to match your suggestion.

Innacuracy in the front, short seam near the headlight, headlight corners are less round, bumps on the back also. Other than that looks like a solid start.

    Ty for C&C guys

    @ P.Benjamin
The seam u mention, if i've understood which u mean, it's just a guide for the hood seam and the related fillets i've to do still. About the rest, u're completely right and i thank u for the feedback.

    @ Briex
Thank u mate, but i've started with these prints and i'll end with them by now, even if i've already noticed they have some inaccurancies who reflect on my model.

    Anyway, another small progress.

And...yeah...accurancy won't be the main ''value'' of this model, even if my target would be to be as closer as possible. It doesn't matter, it means i'll choose better my prints the next time and i'll pay more attention. In the meanwhile, i'll finish it

looks like a nice effort, but always remember that no prints are 100% accurate, you have to adjust the model as you go, after looking at ref pics or getting feedback (like you have)

The more time you spend on it now fixing those little problems, will make a huge difference in the end

Keep it up, but slow down, take another couple of days to fix the bits mentioned, it will help you learn faster and progress, you will learn different and quicker ways of fixing errors ( we all make mistakes )

I agree with greenvampire, your best guide is your eye and lots of photo reference and also a 3rd eye to point your mistakes, sometimes you don't see them till its too late. Some blueprints are not accurate that's why i learned to do spline cages when needs be. Besides there's no way a 3d car model is 100% accurate. unless data is given to you by manufaturer which you'll pay royalty and manfacturing license fee etc...hehehe. Keep it up.

    Rhino
Ty ''greenvampire'' and ''beacon'' for your useful feedback

I've seen 2 great examples of awesome GT-R 35 just on this site, one is the car modeled by ''Advan'', the other one is by ''PBenjamin''. Well, mine doesn't look like their model, that's because of the inaccurancies mentioned rightly by ''Exidge'', ''PBenjamin'' himself and ''Briex''. Maybe they're little inaccurancies, but all together they do a great difference, so my car doesn't look like a good GT-R 35. The problem is that, working with NURBS, is practically impossible to fix all those details, so i've decided to REDO THE WHOLE CAR starting from 0 and changing blueprints. Besides i need more pics to check the absolute accurancy.
It's my hobby by now, and i love to do it, so i've not hurry. I just want my car as perfect as possible and this attempt isn't.

So, stay tuned guys, i'll restart from 0 keeping this thread alive, i don't want to start another one.
I'm stubborn so i'll redo the same car til i will be satisfied. C&C will be absolutely welcome, they're a goldmine i've finally understood

I'll start soon to post some new more accurate NURBS, then the first surfaces and so on
