First of all, let me introduce our Group CTDP.
What is CTDP?
CTDP is the short form for Cars & Tracks Development Project. We are an independant modding-group for racing mods, mostly Formula One. This is just a hobby of our members and they work on their projects in their spare time and they have a real life as well as you.
CTDP work is strictly non-profit oriented and non-commercial.
What does CTDP do?
We modify current racing sims. Starting with EA's F1-Games, we released several full-season mods for F1Challenge. More recently we moved to rFactor as a new platform for releases.
When did CTDP start?
CTDP was offically founded on May 1st 2001. For two years we released mainly small addons, 2002 work on an 1995 mod began which was release for F1-2002. 2003 came the first complete season update, followed by seasons 2004, 1998 and 2005. All of those were released for F1Challenge. In 2006, CTDP switched to rFactor and continued developing for this plattform.
The F1 1994 Project
This project was originally started in 2003/2004. All cars were made, but just some of them were brought ingame because our priorities were set to other formula one seasons back at that time. Then, the mod was completly lost because F1 2006, maybe the most complex mod for rFactor1, took a lot of ressources.
After the final release of F1 2006, we started again with F1 1994. We first collected over 5 GB of pictures, yearbooks, drawings and technical illustrations. After comparing the pictures with the old models from 2003 we saw, the shapes are not only outdated in terms of quality and polycount, they also suffer massive proportion mistakes. Now we're doing reviews and decide whether to remodel the cars from scratch or trying to fix the mistakes.
As first car out of 24 in total , I'll present a scratch made car, the Ferrari 412T1, made by erale (with some finetuning from my side). This car was done in 3ds max (with maya tuning). Polycount is around 60 000 Triangles with Tyres etc. Cockpit details are still missing.
C&C are welcome...
