    Ford Bondeo

........... and no prizes to those who guessed DBS, because:

    http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/9766/mond1qf3.th.jpg

I had a couple of hours off yesterday, so I decided to have a go at the REAL star of Casino Royale (and add yet another car to my list of projects lol).
Criticism is greatly appreciated, as I am modelling this car without any blueprints, dimension measures whatsoever. For now I am basing the wheelbase on the Volvo S60, but in terms of modelling the S60 is of no actual use to me. So grab your critic-guns and fire at me!

That is the Ford Mondeo 2007.

I've been following this car way before it was in J. The funny thing is people called it a focus. Its a beautiful car and it looks like a Japanese car. I wanted to model it but I didn't think it was possible without blueprints. Just look of the car I think volvo was corret to look up.

Thank you for your comments, guys

dbkenn: It is, indeed, the new Mondeo I deliberately omitted to mention it anywhere, just to see how many people would react - apparently not many did so lol
Having been a Mondeo-driver until recently, I would never tend towards calling it a Focus However, this about people mistaking it for a Focus could be due to Ford marketing the new Focus with clips of the Mondeo from Casino Royale (bad marketing trick, but meh, I am still loyal )

I too have been following the car for quite some time now; from the very early sketches of the Iosis concept to the production model, and I must say I find it to be a brilliant looking car as well I am glad you seem to like the model, too.

I should have some updates soon.

Here is a tiny update. So far I think it is going great and my model seemingly matches the real car quite well, if I may say so. Even so I am obviously still requesting criticism.

Anyway, as mentioned, the update is not at all very big and mainly shows some progress on the front bumper; which is, may I add, a very tricky one!
However, while being a small update, it serves another, more important purpose, as I am trying to find out whether or not it is really worth posting here at all, when dealing with such a trivial car and not a Enzo or a Skyline

oh yeah good polyflow, this car will have fine reflections on body, but there is no chance to optimize side little bit and reduce polygons there?

Oh my, thank you very much for all the comments, guys! Much appreciated!

mpfive: Correct. No prints or dimensions at all. Only a bunch of reference pictures, although it is a pain to find some other than the official ones. So far I have only stumbled across a couple of reviews with unofficial pictures. So I am trying my very best to make it accurate

RedStar: Hehe, thank you. It means a lot coming from you . I have thought about it, yes, and I do find it very interesting, but I am somehow more attracted to the idea of having a model with several purposes/possibilities, which is why I strive for making a model that looks good on renders (though no match for a highpoly model, naturally) while being suitable for games, too.

FlashG: Thanks, mate Love right back at ya' lol

LOST: Thanks, man - I will

revelli: Thank you, thank you, my friend! That is, in fact, my aim, which is also why I have so many segments on the side. I could easily remove a couple without any immediate effect on the model as such; however, the aforementioned reflections are the very reason why I keep these segments, as I fear the reflection map will stretch on a area with few polygons. I think you understand what I mean, even though it is a little hard to explain

    feral1: Thank you

I am hoping to get some more done soon, before my final exams. If not, then... it will not be soon lol.
Either way I will bump this thread whenever an update is ready Again, thanks a lot!

btw, didnt mention this before, but i just remembered now. as many of you know ford and mazda teamed up years ago. and notice how the fenders on the mondeo are clearly mazda's signiture fender style. first used on the rx8, then moved to the cx7, the to cx9, even appeared on the mx5. now ford is using the same fender design on their mondeo, and in fact, there is a rumor going on that the new 2008 mazda 6 and ford mondeo will share the same body style, which if true, may explain the japanese look of the mondea

I have not looked much into the new 6. In fact, I know very little about Mazdas, let alone Japanese cars, but you may very well be right.

Here is a small update showing how the rear bumper is taking shape

It is time again for an update With exhaust pipes, a small spoiler and a diffuser, the rear end is basically done, as are the sideskirts. It took me quite some time, but I think it is looking pretty accurate. Further adjustments in terms of proportions have been made to the front, too.
So, once again, give me all your thoughts, fellow gentlemen!

Edit: note to the staff: could you change the title to "Ford Bondeo"?
