It's been a very long time since I last posted here but I've got a new car project to work on courtesy of a friend who wants me to model his 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE and then make it into a drivable vehicle for the Source Engine and a few other game engines later.
This is the first time I've used Maya to model a vehicle and it's pretty much impossible to get any blueprints for this vehicle so it's a tough project to start with but I'm hoping that I'll get faster with progress as time goes on.
I'm hoping for some critique on my methods and on the quality of the mesh. I was also hoping for some tips on how to model accurately without blueprints and just using photo reference.

Like you said its close to impossible to find blueprints for it, let alone ones that are accurate and have all 4 views. Try to find a large photo taken straight from the side and use it, better than nothing. Also get the dimensions from wikipedia and use boxes with those dimensions as a guide. You could also use image planes, put them in the background, create a camera with the same lens settings and position it so you look at your model from the same perspective as in the photo. All those things should be enough to get a accurate model without using blueprints. The more you compare your model with pictures taken from different directions, the better it will look.
