my first car
Hi every one
![]() It's not only my first car, but also first steps in 3D so it will take looong time till I finish it ![]() I've started doing a tutorial based on Nissan R34 Skyline. Today I managed to made a hood. And already first problems came out ![]() As U can see, there is a line just where mirrored parts connect ![]() Tut said that I have to weld middle verticies but don't know why. Tried to weld them many times, but it just didn't work. Parts of hood are attached, and shown as one part, but verticies aren't connected and can be moved separately :/ Finding soulution will be work for tommorow. |

The line on the hood: Pull the middle line a little towards the right, shift-drag another line towards the middle and you shouldn't have that ugly bump anymore, if you understand
Haven't got max in front of me, so i can't show :/![]()

hello and welcome to the forums!!!
its a good start because these are ur first steps in 3d as well as ur first car!!! dont worry too much about the line in the hood; i cant help you because i use maya (the best ); but temporarily i recommend you move those vertices a bit until the hood is as smooth as a baby's bottom I think welding the mirroed parts would be a last step; because in maya merging the 2 sides are always my last step! oh yes next time my friend can you edit your screenshots so that only the car is what we see instead of the menus and ur taskbar please? it makes the pics load quicker on our 56k connections mate! |

guess what?? I managed to weld those part together!!
The trick was - I had to select this middle row then move it a bit and then the verticies which were under them showed up, select them all and weld ![]() and results are as can be seen ![]() PS. Forgive me any language mistakes. English is not my native - I'm from Poland ![]() |

no its not u its like that also with me nice work on the start about your Q
there a couple way`s to do it 1:go to edit poly choose those vertext and press the icon next to weld increas the weld range 2:go to edit mesh and go to the mesh menu left of u change the number of vertext to weld of 4 to 2 and choose the vertext and press weld 3:this way is probley the most easiest u complete 1 side of the car copy it and put it next to the other part then u selecte both parts(hold controle and click on both parts)and go to the modfifier menu and choose symmestry this weld both part automatichly u just need to change the range of it dont make it to high or else it welds stuff u dont want and if u have some gaps over u just try methot 1 or 2 for those gaps left i hope i help u if not just ask good luck m8 |

Did as U said, but it didn't help
doesn't matter though I will lear as much as I can from this tutorial an then try to do something on my own. And this time use some better quality blueprints.Interesting thing is as U can see on screenshots: in viewport its messy, but when rendered all seems all right. |
