I'm back! Just a little model I've been working on since last night. Still tweaking the front clip and working with a few ideas for the back end on paper.

Lowpoly is so much more satisfying.

Nice to see you back. Well its getting there. Again a must is window trim I always hate seeing cars without it. Other than that its kind of early to say but I'm sure it will turn into something nice.

yeah, I got plenty of work to do on this one... I'm really enjoying getting back into the swing as well.

Here's another update (none of it is the final colour, its just what I had handy)

It's at 7348 polies currently. A little heavy on the hood etc. but I'll clean all that up yet.

Heyhey, early bedtime for me. Here's an update as to where the car is at now.

And don't no-one get jealous.... turns out I'm going to the Detroit car show tomorrow! My 4th year now, didn't think i was gonna go, but I will be after all. Hopefully I'll get a bit of inspiration from there. Laters all!

ApeX >> What about the turn signals look odd?

Oh, for anyone who cares, the NAIAS wasnt as good as last years, but it was still pretty rockin. The new Chrysler Firpower was just simply beautiful and VW showed off a chopped-top Beetle. Twas pretty cool.

And here's another update. Currently at 9076 polies.

Nice to see you modeling again
I like this model, though the rims look like they need some better smoothinggroups

That's a good low poly model. Wat are you using it for?

The body looks kinda flat at the moment, but that's a material issue.
If I were you, I would make the wheel-spokes a bit thicker, since they look kinda thin

Other than that: nice stuff dude

NightEye >> Thanks again. And You were right about the rims, they did need a bit of work, I like how they turned out.

reveli >> Hopefully you like this colour better.

shinranryul >> I'm thinking about Vice City, or keeping it for Sand Andreas when it hits PC. It should fit in perfectly in there. Not sure if I'll use it for anything else. Any ideas?

I'm having a hard time making decent looking doorlines, what would ya'll suggest?

And what would be the max poly for Vice City to have it in there and not cause any issues?

keep it under 15-20k and people wont complain
although technically anywhere between 40-80k works fine

Use it for San Andreas. If ya do, up the poly count for more detail in the wheels and lights since San Andrea's cars look better than the others. I have a pretty good tailight map that you can use for the z. Let me know if ya want it.

shinranryul >> I'd love a tail map if you can email it to me. Thanks! ngf64#hotmail.com

And it will most defenitely end up in San Andreas, as well as Vice City. What are the chances the same model can be used in either game?

and I've never actually converted a car for the game, anyone out there wanna do some grunt work for me? Credit will be given to those who help.

EDIT And here's an update, I'm just about done with this one. Quick job she was. Thanks >shinranryul< for the tail map, works perfectly.

Also, does anyone have a map for the 300 engine? or any engine for that matter that would look like it fits. I'm trying to get something going under the hood, but I dont wanna add too many polies.

TheGoog: you can do it two ways:

- modelling the doorlines
- texturing the doorlines

I prefer modelling myself...
Here's how I do it (It's easy!):

- Save your work (and save a backup before doing this)
- Select all polygons for the door. If the shape of the door isn't there, cut it out using the polygon cutter tool.
- Extrude to the inside of the car (distance minus 5 or something.)
- Rescale, make the door a bit smaller, just a really tiny bit
- Extrude again, same distance as before
- Now you have a seam in your door, which you can give a color if you want, or not...

if you want a tutorial with pics, let me know

or this low-res blueprint:

or this one out of an older 300ZX
