Concept: Porsche 904 Remake (Low Poly)

Well, my internet connection went Kaput yesterday and all last night. Its amazing what you can get done without the Internet to distract you.

Here is what I did:

Made new wheels (Currently they have meshsmooth but without it, they fit in my poly budget)

Made side mirrors

Made three different side scoop options for you to choose from (Please tell me which you like, or if none of them work)

And special just for NightEye  I lowered the roof (I don't see a huge difference but I think I like it)

So again, questions comments suggestions and crits are all welcome.

P.S. As always, pay no attention to the crappy modeling job in some spots, just trying to get the shapes and features down.

And as for the intake: keep this one

Sweet rims btw

It does give it a more 'squat' look in profile. I need however to lower the front of the windshield now so that the roof line flows again.

Im with you on the side scoop, but something about it has me uneasy? Perhaps its a bit too big, or bulky. I need to play with it some.

Wheels: Well, they aint sweet, but they are definitely better than my previous 'non'attempts.

Here is the side profile, remember what I said about the top of the windshield.

Edit: I drew a doorline on it just to see how it would look.

hmm the door lines are too common, why not go with the Mclaren F1 stlye door line, that has a high angle to it. That would give it something sweet, or atleast draw it and see.

Well I have plenty of time to mess with doors when I make the templates, since I cant afford to model the doors within my poly budget.

I am still struggling over the side intakes. Something is just not sitting right with me.

So I decided to try the opposite direction, scoops that recess into the body.

So add this scoop to the other three you were choosing from and lemme know if you like the scoop recessed like this one, or exterior like the others.

And for Ice and Night, I couldnt help myself.

I had to play in Photoshop again to see what doors would look like with a more modern shape.

Gotta say, I like it.

hmm well I know this wouldnt be in taste with the real car but it needs some kind of air intake to complement the door angles you have set. Like (again I mention) the Mclaren f1, if you notice the intakes on it follow the lines of the doors.

Well, as I said before the doors are just "play time". Nothing final about them. However I will say that side intakes as seen on the McLaren F1 don't seem like they would fit the style of this car so when the time comes around for doors, I may need to enlist your help.

In the interest of progress, I spent the better part of the evening working on some stuff. Here is a list:

Added an under-body .

Re-made the headlight dishes to be more detailed (less poly) but it isnt really visible with the shading on the headlight covers.

Refined the headlight covers.

Refined the shape of the side scoops.

Added brake calipers, poorly modeled and perhaps too large?

Added a very rough outline of the doors.

Refined the wheels to lower poly count by over 300! (Around 700 tris each now)

Made more detailed brake discs and more detailed texture.

Refined windshield to fill gaps around it.

(Wow, it really seems like less work when listed out )

Here are some new shots, and to change things up a bit I included an overhead view.
