Thanks man

well, about the shark-tails: they added these to give the car more sideways stability in the corners. We see this type of shark-fins on modern cars as well, but then with a spoiler between the fins

new update, I added the NACA-ducts on the back-part, but I'm not yet satisfied with the result, so it will be tweaked further

I updated her, and couldn't resist posting a shot just before leaving for my daily training-hours

Looking great. Will some parts of the engine be visible from under the body?

Dont worry jille you'll get more feedback soon, it just takes a while with this crowd to warm up to people I'll reply (really reply) later when I'm done studying my statistics homework..

lol, thanks Ice.

You seem to know me better than I thought
I was indeed thinking: "hmm, 77 views and only one reply... that's not very much, probably I need to improve the model. But hey, they aren't complaining about the quality so I assume it's okay "

Good luck on your statistics!
and don't forget:

Wow the car looks great so far. I really like what I'm seeing on that drawn render you modified. Once you get the nitty gritty details going people will really start to warm up. And even better would be to get a picture of a car on the track put your render over it and build the scene around it. Turning into a curve with teh weight shifting of the car, adn the tires spinning.... hmm hmm that would be a sweet render indeed. Make it 1200 and Id put it as my desktop background.

*Jille looks happy*
*Jille writes down the idea by Ice*

Thanks guys, for the positive comments.
I will make some nice scene in the end.

I was planning on doing one scene like this, a new untouched car:

and one like this, with a smashed headlight, in a corner

This model looks very promising
What program did you use to make the sketch? (I assume tis not handmade )

Majestic: thanks for the pics I was already using those prints, but the 9170/30 pics are good. The engine is a bit different than the standard 917K engine, but it's useful.
you can expect some nice render in the future (if I forget about it, please remind me, since I'm kinda demented !)

evans: These sketches were handmade. I own a digital-drawing-tablet, which I used to draw these sketches in Corel Painter 9.

Here's the first work-in-progress shot of an engine-part being modelled:
one of the 2 distributor-caps. It's modelled according to blueprints and pictures, so I think it's pretty accurate, although it's still in progress!

Hope you like it. C&C are always welcome.

If you wanna make it accurate, you need the 2 tubes around the middle..
Another thing is the top of the existing tubes, the outer edge of the top needs to be a little bit sharper, other than that, it looks great

Looks much better now I like the little A B thing you also modeled, that's what you REALLY call paying attention to the details
