Work in Progress: Audi TT (The Rain Knight Tutorial)

Hi you all...just wanted to show some of my renders of another Audi TT Concept. I modeled it in Rhino with great thanks to the tutorial by The Rain Knight which is doing some really amazing stuff in the tutorials section...go and check it out if you want to learn Rhino, it helped me a lot!!

I know I'm not even near the model Rain Knight is regularly updating here but anyway...thought I should give it a go here so I can get some really good C&C from the people here...that should be really helpful to upgrade my humble experience in 3d...

So: Modeled in Rhino 3.0 and rendered in 3d Studio Max, with the default renderer...I know the render is not very spectacular so any comments on that also very appreciated...

Also the glass material seems to have something incorrect :? ...don't know what exactly...Does anyone know a good tutorial or material setting about carglass?

Here's a render of the front:

Don't hurry. At first, I'd recommend you to finish modelling. There's a lot to do yet

I know about the modelling...hey I even restarted the whole modelling proces in Rhino because I wasn't satisfied with my surfaces...had the feeling some parts weren't "perfect".

I had some exams (tentamens in dutch  ) so I put the modelling aside a few days...Yesterday I did the Rim tutorial which was put on the tutorial donation section by World's Only Hope...it is in Rhino and I can recommend it to everyone...it's very good and useful I think...

So maybe later today some updates on the body...

About the renderings in Max...they're not a sign of rushing but I just want to see what my progression looks like in Max...I feel I can judge my model better when rendered in Max with some carpaint and stuff...

Does anybody know a good tutorial or explanation about making a material for a rim? I have one now but it's to shiny and it just looks far from real...

Anyway thanks everybody who checks my thread and as said maybe later updates as I'm restarted from scratch!

Greetings

here's the rim I was talking about...I think it looks quite good but I think it has to much balls for an audi TT...World's Only Hope was going for his racing truck rims and that is exactly where these rims are perfect for...I'll be modelling my own rim that suits an Audi TT in the near future...

Don't wanna drag with this model because it isn't really my concept...just wanna show it and let all of you see what you can achieve with the tutorial...(and surely better because I'm really no good in texturing).

I'll pick up my work on the Audi TT now...

Hi, just a new render of my rim...the tire is not modelled...just some sort of tube...tell me what you think of the materials and maybe some ideas of lighting and texturing in Vray because it's totally new for me...

About the wheel:
The tire material is way too dark
The brake disk and caliper materials are also too dark
The rim material is very nice, and it actually looks like WoH's concept sports truck's rim material, is it the same?

I know about the tire...It's only a tube-like-thingy to see what the total wheel would look like...I never textured a tire so I don't know how to do the material...will do that in the nearby future...The caliper and brake-disc is sort of the same story but I think because of bad lighting they look to dark too...The rim material is indeed a replica of the tutorial...W.O.H. was so nice to give the material specs on his tutorial and I loved the material so I duplicated it...still not happy with it...it doesn't look exactly as W.O.H.'s material...

Does anybody know how to model the tire thread in Rhino? Is there a tutorial available?

Greetings

I don't know if there is a tut, but i was considering making one to complete the wheel tut. I was think of Michelin Primacy,
not an all out sports tire. Maybe i'll post it up in a few days.

Also your rim material needs more subd's. Not sure if you did that to save time on the render though.

Stop chasing the stars; just sit down and watch TV.

Hi you all,

made another rim...this should be the original Audi TT rim...It still needs a bit of tweaking on the modelling part and also the material will need improvement...Besides the rim I also did some modelling on the mirrors...

Does anyone know how to make the mirror material? Is it just using the flat mirror material in studio max or not? Haven't rendered it yet so any advice would be nice...(little rhyming going on at this time of the day (here it's twelve o'clock in the evening now hock: )

More to come but Rain Knight's tutorial is not going to be updated soon...so I'll have to figure out how to do the headlights and other stuff myself...

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Greetings Tillaart36!!!

Work in Progress: Audi TT (The Rain Knight Tutorial)

Hi all,

long time since I posted some updates...been very busy with my architectural study. Finally I picked up a little on my Audi TT...And immediately I'm in trouble again...

I did the front and backlights as you can see in the pics...My question is if anyone knows how I must texture them? What is a good glass material, how do I texture the body inside the lights, en how texture the reflecting round surfaces in the backlights...? I can't come up with good materials and on the internet there ain't many sites handling about this part of texturing and materializing...

Please can anyone assist me by this process or name some good links explaining these steps??

Thanks very much in forward!

Other C&C are also welcome ofcourse...
