Nissan Skyline R35 GTR Concept (own design)

As i am very dissapointed in what the Skyline G35 (R35) turned out to be after seeing the concept GTR, i thought i could make a different R35 that should look better than the G35 and has some resemblences with the Nissan Concept GTR and the R33, R34 .
It is done in 3Dsmax 7, using the poly/box moddeling technique and rendered with the standard scanline renderer.

And one earlier render where i hadn't started on the rear yet.

The rims are btw taken of the golf II which i am also building they are just temporary.

The front lights will be chanced. Rear bumper, sideskirts and the rearlights themselves (the red blobs ) are still early wip's. And there is offcource alot of detailing todo.

Hope to get some C&C

looks kinda fat how it is, maybe if it were shorter (as in height) or wider it would look a bit more natural?

the modeling looks great, though, and it does look better than what's actually being made

Well Its always fun to improve on a well known design I have some suggestions. Right now true as F50 said its a bit flat but its also very plain it lacks so much to give it eyecandy. Ive uploaded a picture with just some lines and cricles. First of all Id lengthen the areas with the arrows. When i say lenghten, I mean make that area between the end of the door and the wheel well longer, same for the windows. They seem so stubby as is. The hood also is very plane in its self and also in the way it sits on the car, It just doesnt flow well to me having the hood round off in the center like that. The front bumpers seem very plain too. Id add some more planes to the headlights instead of having them flush with the rest of the car. Anyhow its your baby just some suggestions that I thought it needed

Most of the things you mentioned where indeed things that weren't right on the car, most of them are now done.

The rear (behind the doors) is extended, the front lights are completely redone (as i said in the first post ) and the top is lowered. So now the proportions are close to that of the Skyline R34. I also redid the hood and front grill and the front bumper has received and air-intake.

Hope to get some C&C

Greetz.

I don't like commenting on a persons own design normally. But you did ask so here goes. Just remember that they are just opinions of one person.

One although the paint is nice, I do not like it on this vehicle. To me it hides some of the detail.
I don't like the way the front dam bends back under the vehicle. I am thinking it would look better striaght down
There are no mirrors. Just an observation.
I do like the improvements you have made to it in the second post/ update. The hood area especially. All in all it's a nice car and looks well modeled.

Try to learn something new each day!

Thanks for the reply's

@ Hawktouy;
The paint has been changed, i think this one looks indeed better on the car.
There are indeed no mirrors cause i haven't begun making the details, like mirrors and wipers.

@ Icekid84;
I didn't need the picture cause you explained it perfectly :wink: Thanks for the pic tho.

An update.
The front bumper had some adjustements near the small airintake and the large front grill. The headlight got an interior (dunno if it's final tho) and the hood got an air vent.

I think the wheels are a little bit too small for a sports car like a skyline
The lower the bonnet line, the sportier the car

If you make the wheelarches a lot more agressive, it will look superb. Also, bigger wheelarches can make the car wider, and wide is good

Overall, it's looking like a well modelled car and the design isn't too bad at all - I like the front end design.

The only crit that I can come up with at the moment (personal opinion really) is that the top line from the rear of the headlight cluster to the A Pillar should continue at the same width. ie from hood/bonnet line to edge of panel. At the moment is looks too curvy and messy when it gets towards the A pillar. Maybe if you continue the line to the right of the A pillar, near where the side mirror would be, then it might tidy up that area.

Of course this is just my opinion, the rest of the car is coming along nicely and I like the change of colour.

Dutchy.

Great improvements! I will have to agree on the fender top. It does look off going from fat to skinny the way it does. The paint is an improvement also!

@ majestic ;

Luckilly the wheels are only temps taken of my golfII model .
And the bonnetline is indeed not that sporty, but ey its a skyline not a porsche carerra .
I tried to model it using the same proportions as the R34 which houses a big inline 6.
And maybe i will make the wheelarches a little wider but i have them quite wide already, it needs to be a sporty coupe not a racecar .

@ dutchy ;

It's indeed true with that A pillar thing, i thought it would look good but it doesn't thanks for pointing it out.

btw. Skylines haves always wiped out Porsche Carreras on the track & strip.
Porsche Carrera = Sportscar / Nissan Skyline = Supercar

but anyways i think that you should lower hood line + make bigger wheel arches + rims/tires. *these are just suggestions*

also that car needs some more "Skyline look & spirit" to the body shapes.

I have looked at my model again next to the R34 and maybe i can indeed lower the front a bit, i also made some sketches and it should indeed be a little lower .

A little update.
The lower part of the front bumper now runs almost straight down, the inner part of the headlight has been given a chrome material, the sidedoor handle has been changed and the roof line has been fixed.
I also did alot of things to the back but i will make a render of this tommorow.

Nissan Skyline... well, I don't think so...

Still It's surely more powerful than Porsche Carrera, but IMHO Carrera is much nicer

[/offtopic]

Model looks better then at the beggining, but IMHO it's still not so sporty, as it should be. This was said before, but i will agree with this: try too lower the bonnet, and give it some bigger wheels

Id say the above cars are just penisextenders. And by this i do not mean they are ugly or anything, just the purpose of them

hhm, i guess that you aint be heard about thes...

R32 GT-R JGTC Roadcar (est. bhp 690)
R33 GT-R LM Roadcar (est. bhp 305b)
R34 GT-R Z-tune (est. bhp 500)

all of these are factory stock Skylines. and two first models (32/33) are extremely rare, only 1 of each model were built.
