Anyone knows the exact dimensions of several LEGO bricks, I'm planning to build http://library.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=273, which I also own

there are programms like leocad. you can export whole lego projects to your modeling tool, so there is no need for a libary.

Or LDraw, I used that too.
Its a really handy program, and you can export your model to .3ds, .lwo etc.

Hehe, I did a little research on this, so for who's interested, this is how it works:

LDraw is the basic package featuring a DOS based editor and the parts library.
Various tools for rendering, exporting, viewing, generating, etc, have been developed for it.
Use a program like LeoCAD, or better, ML CAD, as a much better GUI then the original DOS based.
Installations for both Windows and Linux are available.

well... yeah i know it has been a while since i last posted some progress shots... but there is a reason, and it may be a while until some new shots are posted, the reason is that i am now a dad, my wife and i had our first child on the 6th of April, so no time for modelling inbetween nappy changes and feeding, and washing of soiled nappies. will endeavour to get as much done as soon as i can, but as this is a hobby not a career it may have to take a back seat.

Sure will be... no doubts aboot it... the modelling is the easy part, it is the rendering (lighting and materials are my weak point at the moment) that is the hard part.

Thanks to all those who gave me some feedback, it is much appreciated, and smcars ROCKS!!! keep the community together, without trying to sound mushy, we need to stick together, to grow stronger.

May i step in with my lego car project?
http://pailhead.animacija.org/lego/

Although i've put this one to a halt i still plan to finish it. Modelled every piece in max, but i didnt think of a well enough workflow, so it became stresfull to work with.

Could you post some wires of your lego part models, also is the "lego" text on the part made by displacement or bump?
