XSIMatrix, that center line was intentional... Some cars have this line over the hood and down the front bumper... but you are right, seems not welded.. I´ll consider to eliminate that line.

Organic Zero, I agree about the headlights but I couldn´t get a good pic from the real ones. Although, I got from the rear lights

TatuiH, it´s good to see a compatriot here. Concerning your question, I used 3ds max 6 and Brazil for the rendering.

You just need to loose some of the Smoothing on the front fenders and around the car....this version of the Astra has some sharp edges on its design...

But don´t eliminate the line on the hood, it just looked a litle bit strange caus this line goes down where it should have the license plate place, and usually the line stops before it.

The color is simply stunning! ..Love the choice! and nice texturing also...but as Organic Zero told ya, the headlights on the Stock Car Astra are just textured, (painted) on the fiberglass body of the stock cars (it´s to save weight) So, no need to modeling those on a stock Car....

...Just loved the color, that´s tight!!!
By the way, I´m from Brazil also, and made an Astra long time ago also....that was the first car I wanted to model...I like the 2005 Astra alot.

Thanks for the tips Spirit!
It´s really good to see the details through other peoples eyes.
I´ll take a care look in the smoothing and specially the headlights problem when I have some time to work in this model again. The Stock Car headlights are indeed decals in the real cars.

I´ll confirm the line in the front bumper looking the cars in the next race in São Paulo. But the street Astra GSI really have this line above the license plate.

Thank you for the compliments!... (I had a hard time to get that car paint color)

Great work,

Do you have any blue prints? Have you modeled only with photo references? I modeled an Astra too, and I'm doing my new version right now. But without blue prints is difficult!

from what it looks like, you should check out the opel section and look for the dtm 2005 car, opel astra dtm or something like that .. don't remember it anymore, but it definately is a raceversion of a current opel - that's what i thought when i saw the first pic in this thread anyway

if it is modelled after that car, there should be some vents on top of the wheelarches... besides that the front brakediscs appear to be a bit smallish, especially for a racecar...(having changed the vented discs & pads on my own car just yesterday, and they were quite big, for a 84ps car )

sky / surprise! productions

Sitting there watching that powder-blue and orange 917 barreling down the Mulsanne and getting squirrelly
under braking was the exact moment when I stopped thinking Corvettes were the coolest cars on earth.

Hi Sky^sp: The Brazilian version of the astra isn't the same as european version. There are some differences. I checked it out, but thanks anyway

Auradrummer,
I modeled this StockCar only with photo references but if you plan to model the Chevrolet street version you could use this blueprint.

sky^sp, I didn´t modeled after the opel dtm car, this is the stockcar brazilian version, you can find some photos at www.stockcar.com.br
But I didn´t pay attention at the size of the brakediscs, I´ll check it later. Thanks for the warning.
