That's my first high-poly model so it's not highly professional and i know you'll find mistakes :]. This is also my first post on this forum so Hello to all.
And now ... enjoy :

What do you think ?
Btw. has anyone got a nice tutorial on how to get a good car paint material (renderable for Mental Ray) ?

The model looks great, esp for a first try.
I pointed out some mistakes you should have a look at.

1. Should be sharper.
2. A bit bumpy there.
3. The bumper should be a bit smoother there.
4. Should be a bit wider.
5. Goes in a bit more.
6. The lights seem to be sticking through the hood
7. Something fishy going on there. Not quite sure though.

Keep up the good work

Oliver

For making a nice car paint in Mental Ray, i remember watching a vid which recommends the following (all based in Maya, adjust as needed):
1. Make a Layered Shader
2. Into the first layer, put your base material, which is non-reflective (or near it) and has a pretty spread out specular, or even apply a Ramp Shader which depends on the light angle to brighten/darken the base coat.
3. In a new layer on that shader, put a highly reflective Blinn, which is almost 100% transparent and has a sharp specular highlight. This is to simulate a car's clear-coat.

That should be it, if you have questions just ask

If you want to know how to make good materials for mental ray, I would check out http://www.danielbuck.net/index.php?page=tutorials

Then just scroll down and look for the car paint tutorial. Its very easy and you get a nice result.

2. Well i didnt know how it looks like on the real car and it's still a test version :]
6,7. I think it's because of the camera position so when i'll have some progress i'll post a render with a different view.

In what way ? the material or the shape (or both ) ? i think that when i'll add a reflection material it wont be noticable. If it will be i can always change it, but i couldnt find a good referance picture for the front light... there was one big picture on this forum, but because of the reflections i couldnt see the details ...
