Beginners Car - WIP
I'm new to modeling this is my first semester taking a Maya Class,
unfortunately the renders are really dark and i dont know much about lights or rendering, well, rather nothing about lights and little about rendering so im posting a screenshot instead, plus for some reason the hood doesnt render at all, gives me an error "non quadrilateral face in subdivision surface base" i gotta figure that out. alot of my edges are not so great and i may start this all over new, but since im new to smcars i figured i should make my first post and share with you all what im working on. This eclipse is from a tutorial but i think i still made some mistakes with it. some pinching, and the edges just bother me and i dont know if its worth trying to sort them out or just start new with what i have learned since i started this one. Thanks for any response or comments :-D ![]() Hi |

update:
I got the error fixed and the Hood and bumper rendered, plus i got some lights in there, so here are some render images, currently need to finish the headlight, but i think i need to form a fresh one cause this light is a disaster. I dont understand exactly why the render looks so much different than what i see in the viewport. for instance those corners on the door are pointy and come together at the corners with the fender and are not rounded like that. Thanks for your comments guys keep um coming. ![]() Hi |

so, it was the mental ray that was doing that curving when it rendered.
When i switch to Software it comes out normal. Still dont know why that happend though, which might be more usefull than knowing how to work around it. ![]() Hi |
