you guys talking about smoothing groups: to me it looks like he's using Maya, which doesn't use them
![]() (I recognize that HUD with the poly counts. same default colors and number order/spacing as Maya 6.5) They're all referring to the normals, which surely could be improved. What I would recommend is selecting the model, and going to Edit Polygons-->normals-->Soften/Harden options box. In there, set the slider to "all soft" and apply it to make the whole model have averaged normals. Then go into edges selection, and select any edge which needs to be sharp. With those selected, go back to soften/harden options, make it "all hard" and apply that to those edges. That's how I do my normals, it's really quite easy once you have an eye for what edges need sharpening. ![]() Any chance we can see a flat-shaded pic? |
