not much to say at this state. would need to know what the limits is you set yourself with the model.

low poly modelling needs a bit thinking ahead. you need to think about where to place modelled detail and where you can simplify the model and put detail into the model with painting.

if you aim for a very low poly model, then avoid 90° angles, just make the angle a bit smaller and use smoothing groups. It makes the shading of the model a little bit smoother.

it looks very bad, try to add some triangles where the lines of the car is smooth

Try improving your smoothinggroups some more

jep, try the smoothing groups, those thing makes wonders with a lowpoly car, and on my last reply, i forgot, that you must add some polies on the wheelarches, where many people looks at first, so thumb up

Re: Low Poly - Audi R8 (le mans)

you guys talking about smoothing groups: to me it looks like he's using Maya, which doesn't use them
(I recognize that HUD with the poly counts. same default colors and number order/spacing as Maya 6.5)

They're all referring to the normals, which surely could be improved. What I would recommend is selecting the model, and going to Edit Polygons-->normals-->Soften/Harden options box. In there, set the slider to "all soft" and apply it to make the whole model have averaged normals. Then go into edges selection, and select any edge which needs to be sharp. With those selected, go back to soften/harden options, make it "all hard" and apply that to those edges. That's how I do my normals, it's really quite easy once you have an eye for what edges need sharpening.

Any chance we can see a flat-shaded pic?
