350z help needed please
First let me say I'm not sure if this is posted in the right forum, if it is not i apologize. I am new to 3dsmax and the 3d modeling world in general. But I love cars and decided to try and make a 350z (because it looked like an easier car to start learning on). Anyways I got done with a pretty good part of the body but when i render it it looks way too boxy (polygons are too visible). But if I use a meshsmooth, it becomes too rounded (iteration set on 2), is there a way to retain some sharp edges (like under the door)? Also how do I cut out the different parts after the model is complete (doors, bumpers, fenders, etc.). And what do you guys think, am I on the right track with this or did I just screw it up?
I think it looks pretty bad, but I'm not sure if it's something I did wrong or if it's the fact that I have yet to learn anything about the rendering process. I've heard talk about vray, which from what I gathered i think is a standalone or at least plug-in render better than the simply using the renderer that is built into 3dsmax. *files include a partial 350z model in .max format and blueprints all in .zip format |

Re: 350z help needed please
so I should model eveything seperatly...ok thanks. But aside from the fact that I didn't do that part, does everything looks as it should? Because to me it looks like I can see to many of the polys, and when i meshsmooth it, it looks way to round (not like the car). I dunno if rendering it properly will make it look correct?
