Re: :: Porsche 911 [ 996 ] ::

The one thing I can tell you that I'm sure you already know is..DO NOT format the disk...you will lose all of your work and that will suck a lot..
Microsoft will always advise you if you contact them not to migrate hard disks across pc's and always use a fresh windows install on a a new pc..this is because windows sucks....
The first thing I would make sure of is that you have the latest drivers installed for your new motherboard...if this doesnt work then I reckon you might have to put the hard disk back into the old pc and transfer the files to your new one some other way (via burnt disks or a network connection)
Sorry I coulnt be more help...hopefully someone else around here will have more ideas

totally awesome porsche btw

Re: :: Porsche 911 [ 996 ] ::

when u install an old HDD in a new mobo, u need to do a format, if not it'll not work. So yeah, bring it to the shop.

Awesome work on the 911, though .

load of ****.
connect the hard drive to new mobo, pop windows cd in, install it and choose "leave partition as is" and "delete old windows version"

you'll have to reinstall everything (as in, programs), but all the files will still be there, even those in documents and settings (unlike common belief)
