Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates, finished wheels

I'm afraid it's all polys* :'( Just kidding, I like polys but there is a certain sense of accomplishment when you pull off a good model in NURBS. I could tell that this car would be a nightmare to do with NURBS, so I relented. Anyway, I'm currently working on the interior and will post an update once I have a fair amount finished.

You got any new work going on? Your beetle is still one of my favorites.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates, finished wheels

A few updates. Finished the seats, and put the tires in place with all the porsche logos. Didn't render the displacement maps with these to save time. Still lots to do.

Killerskull, Seiyuusha modeled the suped up beetle, and I agree it is an awesome model.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates, finished wheels

nah, still very busy catching deadlines.... office works, brothers... :'(

'bout this baby in NURBS, couldn't agree more with you. it's a hell....
anyway, the interior looks very good !!
it's just, your taillights. they look somehow unfit with the body. render effects or... ?

dilbert, bro, i'm planning to model a 350Z in NURBS, and i'll borrow your technique, may i ? and i think i'll supe it up with some VeilSide type 3 and Andrew Baccarats...

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates, finished wheels

Yeah, I know how the work thing goes :x

You're right about the rear lights. What happened is I modeled them by welding together a bunch of half-spheres, and it got real hard to maintain the shape of the light when smoothing. I kinda left it alone until I finish the interior, then I'll go around and fix all the little details. If you have any suggestions on a better method, please let me know, I could use the help.

Can't wait to see you do a 350Z! I kinda gave up on mine cause I was not happy with a lot of it. It was a great NURBS learning experience though. If you hit any problem areas I'll let you know how I did it, and I'm sure you can improve on the technique.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates, finished wheels

Been working on the basic interior shape. Lots of knobs and buttons to add, not to mention the dash and steering wheel, but the basic shape's there.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

Updates. Interior is almost finished. I took a little artistic lisence as to what I included in the interior due to being tired of modeling this project, but I will finish up the steering collumn.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

I still think your front lights are out of shape, and the seats look quite uncomfortable too. Even so I must say that is is some very good modelling Nice work on the engine grille as well

LOL. Yeah, I noticed that about the seats also! They're those new HARD leather seats Maybe I'll get around to puffing them out a little before I start texturing.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

Fast work there dilbert1, I know what you mean about being tired with the project. I ended up modelling 95% of the interior, and it drove me mad.
You have joined the sloping part of the dash, with the silver bar that runs across the interior that has the air vents (I hope you know what I mean .That part is seperate, but I guess this is part of your artistic license! Keep it up!

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

Updates. I'm pretty much done with what I'm going to model with the interior. Just have to do the dash gauges. I know there's stuff missing, but 99% of people wouldn't know just by looking. Sometimes I think you gotta trade accuracy for what you can get away with.

Thanks for the pics botzelman, very helpful. Maybe in the future I'll get really anal and finish up everything.

Thanks for the eyes night fire. There is a gap in that part, but I think my anti-aliasing wasn't set high enough to catch it in the render. The silver parts with the air vents are very fudged. Just didn't have the patience to do all the nice subtle inlays that the real car has.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

I think the level of detail you have is great, and will come out fine in renders. I did so much detail, that I can hardly render the thing! Overall you have done justice to the car, it is certainly a hard one to model (alot harder than I thought when I started it!)

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Interior update

hey, great model, i like the detail too...

Nightfire's right - when I'm trying to render detailed model, I always wish I haven't done it simplier. Even soft with less apetite for memory as lightwave cannot help for too many polys.

I'll keep an eye on this thread

cheers
