New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: New renders added
Been gone for a while, so I decided to start a new project. Haven't gotten around to all the little details yet, but the basic front end is almost finished. Materials are just for a quick test render also.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT
On the first pic, front looks very bumpy. From what I see, I think that you have there several narrow polyrows, that ruins smoothness.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT
Yeah Marqus you're right, I need to smooth out those strips under the lights.
Revelli, can you be more specific because I'm using this reference pic for the headlights. I know that the curves need to be smoother, but the lights are pretty close. Always appreciate another set of eyes for critiques though ![]() |

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Updates + Wires added
Yeah, sorry, I haven't even started on the materials yet. Also, I didn't want to spend hours processing some nice renders. At least the shiny look exposes any unsmooth surfaces.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Rear-end clay updates
Gonna finish up the main body, then do the grill above the engine, then it's onto the wheels. Haven't started on the materials yet, and I still have to fix the headlights.

Re: New Project - Porsche Carerra GT: Rear-end clay updates
Emis, there's no HDRI's in these renders (at least real ones), in fact the renders are all simple Maya software renders. To do a quick test render like those above I just plug in an 'environment sky' 3d texture into the reflected color of the paint. It does the job quickly so you can evaluate your work. This function is built into Maya, but I'm sure you could do the same with other software. Try plugging different pictures into your reflected color until you find one that looks subtle, usually a simple horizon with a nice bright sky works good.
Ths clay renders are of course final gather environment renders. Sorry that I don't have anything I can actually send you. ![]() |
