2008 Hemi Cuda Concept

This is my idea for a 2008 Hemi Cuda concept. I sarted this on another forum, so here it's kind of picking up in the middle. I just discovered this place and I think it's an awesome site, especially since it's specifically devoted to car design. This is my first attempt at modeling a car using my own sketches and blueprints, and definitely the most in-depth modeling I have ever done (only the fifth model I have ever done). A little background on the car: I wanted to design a modern-day Hemi Cuda with hints of the original in it's design. I did not want to go retro, but I want it to be obvious that this design evolved from the original, hence elements such as the segmented grille, the black tail light section and rear wing, the twin shaker ram air hood scoop. I made it a Chrysler because even though Plymouth made the Barracuda in the 60's/70's, unfortunately they don't exist anymore, so it would have to be a Chrysler product. Anyway, I hope you enjoy...

cool, design is perfect, very agresive look, but the materials need some work, headlights have very bad materials

Re: 2008 Hemi Cuda Concept

Accually the Barracuda was a standard edition family car, that had loads of balls. There was a second edition called the Hemi-Cuda, which had a more aggressive style and a Hemi ofcourse.
I am confused though. You said you did not want to go retro, but yet this is more retro than a Ferrari Enzo or even an F1 car. And you said that you wanted to stick with the original style, and other than the paint scheme I don't see any similarities.
And like you already noted, Plymouth is long gone, maybe go with the Challenger Concept.

Re: 2008 Hemi Cuda Concept

The design is sweeet! I think your modeling needs a little work especially around the bumpers to smoothen out and blend the surfaces a lil.

I don't see much hemi C in in it though. It seems like a mix between the cadillac cien and corvette.
This car is not retro, don't really see any of the classic at all.

Either way, I love the design.

How about putting back the last cuda scoop back on and adding that crease that goes along the side.

Re: 2008 Hemi Cuda Concept

Honestly I don't see how you guys say this is a retro design. I am not trying to go Mustang with this car. I'm not trying to make it look just like the original, I am just using subtle design cues from the original, to design a very modern, fast and powerful car. Granted I am not a design student (yet), and I am still learning a lot about all of this, and I value everyones input greatly. This is just what I would invision such a car to look like. Can you honestly say that you see a lot of the original Charger in the new one? How about the GTO? What about the last models of the Camaro and Firebird. Granted, they had like 35 years to evolve, but compare a 2002 Camaro with a 1967, or my favorite, the '69. Yet all of these cars seem to be fairly popular. I am not trying to argue with any of you, I just think that interpretation and conceptualization are about 99% of design, and this is mine.
