Re: Ford Coupe 1940
Thanks man,
I am not going for realism but if i can model it more accurate then it's all the better. I love the 55-56 Crown Vics too and hope someday to model one. All my ref pics come from the web plus a few mags and books. Nostalgic Dave was kind enough to provide closeup pics and measurements and these did help me a lot (the model was way too wide). Due to an illustration job i will have to slow down on this model but will get on with it until complete. Thank you all for the c&c. |

Re: Ford Coupe 1940
Thank you for the references!
On a sidenote the Crown Vic devoid of all chromework shows clearly its pillared sedan condition, with the pillar cleverly disguised by the "crown". Odd because in the days when all makers had their hardtops -- Ford included, and in two price categories -- this particular pillared sedan was priced above the hardtop. Noteworthy as well is the fact that the original 1949 design was so avantgarde it could withstand seven years and two radical restyles. Actually what started as a slab-sided uncluttered shape gradually reincorporated bulges and extensions in order to keep "updated". As if Ford had decided the design should fill up the original rectangle it was inscribed within. But nevertheless a charming car, the 55/56 model. ![]() |
