Ford Coupe 1940

Hi all,

An old Ford this time.
Popular for customizing in the 60s, but mine is going to be stock.
Polymodeled in Max 5, rendered with VRay.

Thanks for watching!

Yes, only thing that is missing is a big block engine and maybe a blower... and some big fat back tires

Re: Ford Coupe 1940

Thanks for the replies guys!

The carpaint is a simple Multi-Layer with Falloff in the diffuse and VRay Map on the reflection slot. It renders fine under GI but when i place my usual shadow-casting spot the magic goes away. Anyway later i will render it with hdri.

I have narrowed the bodyshell to correct proportions, did a lot of tweaking on the fenders and the front and added some chromework.

As for a street rod version, maybe later i will work on it. Stock comes first.

Re: Ford Coupe 1940

Actually i did try modeling it but the result was very lame, esp. the side vents, so i just mapped them. The bumpmap is a simple black and white map on the bump and opacity slots.

Please do mention as that is what forums are for. I am trying to get as good a model as possible and any crit is most welcome. Even though i have several reference pics at hand there are many issues to deal with; the headlights alone took me a lot of time and i am still not fully satisfied with them.
The grille mapping may be effective at a distance but at close range it lacks depth. The chrome bars should be rounder and the vents should recede inwards. Opacity map simply creates a hole on the object face, no depth.* :x
