Re: MX-5 Tuning

Here is the wireframe,

I dont really know what to say my problem is, but i'm get bumps in areas when i convert to sub-d or just use a polysmooth

one time i found a really good reading online, about tri's and quads, and keeping to one, and how to it right, but i never could find it again.

Re: MX-5 Tuning

I think that your mesh is way too dense and that causes it to be bumpy... Try doing the same with less polies

About tris and quads, try to keep to quads if you use meshsmooth, tris usually ruin the mesh...

Re: MX-5 Tuning

Thanks for the input, I reduced the number of poly's, by more than half, and re-smoothed. My results were much better, ... so ... rock out. I guess.

You should Poly model, I think you used a box as base?

Re: MX-5 Tuning

Practise makes perfect
Try to let the bodypanels flow smoothly, which is probably just a matter of using more polies and placing them correctly
Good luck, don't give up!

I don't know how Maya smooths things, but if it's like LW, don't be afraid to use tri's
Else, I think with two quads it's possible too, but I don't know if this will look good enough..

Re: 1993's MX-5, factory supercar of the century.... JK

Little update, got some holes for headlightslights, .... for some reason this car reminds me of the whale shark .... (see picture)

and to night eye, thanks, there is a picture of what i ended up with in the end, and it seemed to tur out pretty smooth.
It seems like when i use tri's i just can't get it to be smooth, it always pinches or something. but i might just be using it wrong.
