Re: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Need some help please)

omg they trashed that camaro* :'(

(ta for the ref pics* )

edit: done some minor work on the rear, i have to go to bed, but from those ref pitures i have noticed somethings i will do probably tomorrow:

- reshape spoiler, too tall, curve on it is wrong.
- recut the license plate area out of th bumper, it was too high.
- redo the original tail lights, they are incorrect.
- reshape the rear window, the lower corners are sharp, the top corners are round.
- fix the crease along the side, it should reache the rear end.
- fix the pinched area on the side just behind the wheel arch.
- fix pinching around the window corners (also need to ask how everyone gets their window corners smooth without pinching, mine need to be chamferred to make them sharp, but when they are chamferred they pinch together :?)

anything that anyone else notices that needs to be added to this list, please do

Re: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Need some help please)

I think that the basic bodyshape is the same on '67-'69 camaros, only things they changed were the lights and grille and small details like the creases on the side on '69 model.

Let's see how it looks like after you made the changes you listed

I don't know about Mental Ray so i can't help you out in that matter.

The design of the Camaro is so -- clean -- it would be hard to customize it into a nicer look. Just throw those lowrider rims and there u go.

Anyway here you can find lots of closeups that may help you with the modeling:

This dealer has comprehensive showcases on all his cars, really good shots, and many a model i have done was based on its references.
Good luck!

you shouldnt really smoke that much pot at once, it can be fatal* (thanks anyway).

Edit: i noticed on that reference picture theres a indent slot below the bumper, though i cant see what it looks like because the bumpers covering it, anyone know what it looks like?

Edit2: nvm i found a pic*

ok, i worked a little more on the back of the car, not much got done seeing as i still have to complete the lights and fix the pinching around the rear window. Can someone please post a wireframe of one of their cars windows, im not sure exactly where i should be cutting the polygons to make it smooth yet fairly sharp to keep the shape of the window outline :?

Re: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Need some help please)

I thought so, just didnt recognise the car's colours. I cant figure out why mine looks wrong though is the bumper too thick? or the lights not tall enough? or the spoiler too tall?

And i want to ask, although im far from the unwrapping stage i was wondering how everybody else applys the UVW unwrap, does it go onto the modifier stack before or after the meshsmoothers?

(and whats up with gt4's car tyre tread pattern, they look like 4wd mud tyres* )

Re: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Need some help please)

Worked a little more on the front, mainly on cutting the panels into sections, i still have to cut the section along behind the bumper but i decided to give it a little break.

(renders keep turning out **** so i decided to go back to clay.)
