1979 RC Baja Bug

30 days and counting, I'll be getting full max 8 in new year

Had a few hours on this already, some bumps to Iron out and edges to clean up but I think its going OK. This is a model of a model I own if that did'nt make sense have a look at www.scorchi.co.uk its a Tamiya Sand Scorcher (from which I take my name) and the blueprints are in the manual which I will donate soon.

Just a few screen grabs for now, crits welcome.

Re: 1979 RC Baja Bug

Cool choice. I had a plastic kit don't recall by what maker back in the 70's.
But the stamping on the hood (actually the trunk since the Bug is rear-engined) is too sharp. Soften the chamfering to the same scale as the crease that runs along the roof edges.
And keep us updated!

Hi Palat (loved your Ghia by the way)

Sorry I'm English , are we talking Boot or Bonnet LOL I'm pretty sure your refering to the Back end though, if so I know what you mean but in this case on the real bajas thats usually a fibre glass cover over the edge where the back (or decklid) has been cut in half, ive seen all sorts of shapes and sizes but I'm going by the model here, which I still aint got right LOL. See pics (If you meant the front er...sorry ops

Re: 1979 RC Baja Bug

Actually i meant bonnet
But on the Bug the bonnet -- which always covers the engine -- stays aft, so letīs call it trunk (or boot)
Confusing eh
More different terms between the Commonwealth and the rest of the Universe:
Fender -- mudguards
Windscreen -- windshield
Anyway check how the crease must soften a bit around the stamping:

Let's say it forms a step. The upper corner of the step is soft, the lower one is sharp.
Hope you get my point.
Otherwise superb modeling.
