Re: Brabus S V12 (Benz SL600)

Wow, kickass renders those, the only thing that give the first one away are the shadows, they're a bit too sharp; on the second one there are a few mesh errors visible but it still looks fantastic.
Now for the questions:
1 What rendering program did you use?
2 Are you thinking of doing a tutorial on this car? at least for the renderig part.
thanks, keep it on

If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself

Leather stiches and studio setups
Studio setups are easy if you know how many lights and where to put them.

Also, i recon you could get an award on cgtalk for this

How did you do the fillet/blend for the wheel arcs?

Better late than never

In this studio setup i had that good ol' white plane in the back to give that nice reflection to the back of the hood and roof.. Then i had a selfmade HDRI, which is real easy to do: i made a simple room with couple of lights, some pillars n stuff and rendered with a cubic camera, exported as hdri, blurred it and lit the scene with it.. Then i added a couple of spotlights which was mistake because it came out a little cartoonish, also those sharp shadows aren't good. For the background i made a gradient and twisted it and the ground is a matte plane to get the shadows.. Simple stuff

The leather stitches are easy to do. I'll make a tutorial and post it in the tut section soon

There are many ways to do it. I made it with 2 rail surface.. First i blended curves from side to side then just sweep the surface and use the MatchSrf to make it flow smoooothly.. You can also use loft or network surface. Whatever works..
Sorry i'm not good in explaining stuff but i hope you'll get the idea..

Thanks for all your comments!! More renders soon

Re: Brabus S V12 (Benz SL600)

I say do a very detailed tutorial on rhino and how you modeled the car. I know I might be asking for much here but its frustrating that there aren't many great car modeling tutorials for rhino. There are few but they aren't well detailed, by that I mean lots of steps are skipped and is not explained. I am trying to do some cars in rhino my self but since I don't know the best way to go on certain parts of the car its not comming out perfectly, but I must say I feel lot better about my rhino skills now than I used to few months back

Everything if possible  , but at least for the most important materials used(in your opinion) and rendering parameters in vray.
Now for some other questions: How long did the renders take and how many polys did the car have in max?

If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself
