Now for some other questions: How long did the renders take and how many polys did the car have in max?
The interior render took like 9 hours to calculate the GI and the rendering was like 7 hours.. I used quite high settings for the interior..
For the exterior shot i first calculated the GI solution with no reflections (which took 36 mins) and the rendering took about 3 hours..

It's not really polys.. I used this www.npowersoftware.com to import in to max.. Everyone who uses rhino and max should check it out.. It'll be worth your while

Thanks for comments!

1. Takes a lot of planning: I hide everything else except the parts visible to camera and possibly visible to reflection.. I use minimal settings in everything (not too many reflection bounces, blurred reflection subdivs etc.) I use the vray proxy for most meshes (saves memory) then i calculate the irradiance map first, then do a separate render... So, it's not just like hit render and voila.. It would crash inevedably.

2. With NPower you can import rhino 3dm files with a click of a button.. NURBS don't have a steady polycount.. It creates the render mesh depending on the view your looking the object.. It's like IGES that actually works.

3. You can get the 30 days trial from the site.. Install it, then go to studio max, choose file/import and the you can choose rhino files to import Real easy

4. no need for that

Hey Orb, would you mind posting some wires of the car before you started doing all the detailing/splitting? Or maybe just post pictures of the splines you used to create the body?

I'm with everybody else on your work....NICE!!

you have a pm.

Re: Brabus S V12 (Benz SL600)

Whoaa 8o. This is REALLY good. Congratulations . If I remember correct you were using Rhino 2.0? I have to try that Npower plugin too. Maybe there finally is good solution to get models easily from Rhino to 3dsmax or similar. I havent done any 3D stuff for while. But everytime I see stuff like this is it makes me wanna start modeling something. But then I see that I totally suck and then I get depressed etc.
