Low Poly Car Contest: Cadillac XLR

thought i'd join up in that there low poly contest. i'm choosing the caddy XLR for it since it's pretty angular, yet modern. i'm not much of a fan of the design, but i don't like anything except fieros anyways. damnit, that's a good idea! why didn't i think to make a fiero? fieros are sweet. or a DeLorean. i actually like those cars. oh well, i started this so i might as well finish it. well at least try to unless work gets crazy or my girlfriend starts complaining i spend too much time on the computer. but she spends all this time shopping for clothes so i don't see the difference. i'm not a fan of posting just the quarter panel shot, but it's all i have done and i guess we are supposed to show progress as part of the contest rules. i went to the dealer and measured it out since there arent any real prints of the car. the salesshmuck asked me what i was doing and i told him i had to get measurements to fit the car into my trailer when i came back that night after all the cadillac people left. he asked if i was kidding and i said of course, who wants to steal a GM car, you guys are in the toilet. if i was gonna steal a car, it would be a civic or prius or something like that. he asked me to leave, but i already had all i needed so he didn't foil my plans at all. my backend print out blew away so i had to draw pictures like they did in the olden days... those were the days 8o!

Looks like a good start.

If you dislike GM so much why do you like fieros? Also why would you steal a honda, if youre going for grand theft auto you may as well make it a porsche or something fun.

Re: Low Poly Car Contest: Cadillac XLR

i like fieros cause they had the name on the back that lit up at night. that is sweetness no one can deny!!! the fiero had a plethora of cool stuff like that on it. is it a coincidence GM started sucking after they killed the fiero? :? i think not... the fiero is the only thing that can save GM.

now david, you know i did all those measurements. i am resisting a smart ass answer you may have come to expect from me, but i will give you this: i worked at this place. it was a good job i suppose. i met a lot of good folk, and one bad one whom i won't name. anyways, at this place there was a poster on the wall. it had a phrase on it (the poster, not the wall), motivational words that inspired all who worked there to transcend from average worker to immortal legends of the industry that they are today. and while i have moved on from that place, wandering from town to town in a random A-team people helping sort of way, i have never forgotten those words. and that is why i measure everything. i pray that you have not forgotten all that you have learned.

oh yeah, here's some pic of progress on that waste of sheet metal.

Re: Low Poly Car Contest: Cadillac XLR

the contest is 5k tris for the entire thing, including wheels, interior, fuzzy dice, etc.

had little time today as it was Enemy Territory at work today. our little work clan ownz. that game is too cool even after all these years. so not much progress, the doors and a bit o that rocker, block in that mirror. 2160 tris for now. long way to go.

hi T-shine, you should give this contest a go too. be fun to see what you make.
