is the start finish stretch part of a drag strip? and would you mind showing some 'ugly' grass texturing so we could see what you mean?

nice ansitropic filtering there is like absolutely 0 texture blur towards the horizon oh and those shadows are too black.

@silentmobius ... well, I figure there would be some sort of makrs for cars starting up that weren't doing any pace lap. I'm going to have my cars start from that sort of orientation at the start/finish line for sure. However, there actually is a drag strip in the south-east of the track, near where the start/finish straightway and the final turn come together.

The 'ugly' grass texturing is most noticeable in the second-to-last and final thumbnails I posted... it just looks too much like a solid color. Same with the road... which leads me into:

@The IC ... I'm currently reworking a lot of my textures to improve the quality of them, those would be one of them. The end result over on my end is staggering with what I've done to the road. It might not be accurate to PIR, but it sure does make it look more believable. I'll let the pictures I post in a few hours demonstrate the complete changes that have taken place... so be on the lookout to this thread

@ DrumBoPing ... This is solely a project for my own benefit, no game or anything has, or will see this. It's all just to go into my demo reel to show employers, hopefully to get me a job (which is yet another reason I'm reworking so many textures)

---___---¯¯¯---___---

Here's an update from what I was working on most of the day today... texture revamps! The overall quality has jumped to at least twice the quality it was before, just from a couple texture changes or revamps here and there.

Here's a Before shot:

and Here's an After shot, so you can tell just how much was changed, and what was changed:

Here's the rest of the images. I can finally have a higher-than-ground-level camera

Now... Maybe texture splatting isn't so bad after all... if your ground textures are 1024x1024 or larger O_O

*I hope people see this update, since I didn't bother to re-post and bump my thread

well that tarmack is really cracked :O but if it comes closer to reality like this then it's cool i guess

textures are great, i'd just be careful not to use the worn look of the curbs too much. usually only the curbs in the apex and the immediate exit are hard beaten, the rest usually look rather "new" because the ideal line doesn't cover them

Update time! Additionally, thanks to imageshack, shots of my only-once-before-seen car I've been working on for a while! I had an interior shot of it previously, but somehow imageshack lost the file... so these are the only ones to exist now!

Got the seats and console done today, plus I'm showing the large number of pics just because I haven't yet shown much at all of this car yet... wanted it to have an element of surprise, since it's more detail than any other vehicle... like... woah! where'd that come from?!

21,322 faces... man... the other vehicles in this thread are only 1,500 or so. Even the entire race track is only 58,771 faces. as you can see by the polygon counter, I don't want to go over 25,000 with this vehicle, or maybe 30,000 absolute tops.

The backseat, visors, rear view mirror, emergency brake, a switch on the instrument panel, dashboard rotators (spedometer needle, etc), a rear wiper blade, the interior dome light, the light when you open the boot, the seatbelts, and finally, a steering column... perhaps modeled out "SUBARU", "IMPREZA OUTBACK", and "Huffines Chevrolet" on the back, but that's pushing it. That's the modeling work yet to do, and the entirety needs to be textured.
