to keep this thread relatively up to date...

here's some stuff I've been working on recently...

Mail Box (city scene)

"fully modeled" Tree (all scenes) (a lot more to come)

Construction Crane (industrial scene)

and last but not least... my latest major undertaking, and coincidentally going to be the first finished scene I'll have to render out for my demo reel... Here's a Google Earth view of Portland International Raceway. I plan on modeling this track out to be about similar to gran turismo 4 quality... hopefully that'll go pretty well. It's been a blast modeling out so far. Nice and quick to model out a race track

"fully modeled" Tree (all scenes) (a lot more to come)

so yeah. I don't have a pic just yet, as it's still in such basic stages of development, but I've completed the shape of the track, and am working on filling in the roads/paths around the actual track. I'm going to model out about a quarter mile in either direction unless something in specific is needed, such as a rather large mountain that is seen off in the distance, that'll be one of the few things that exists very far from the track. But yeah, I figure this track will be a nice way to show off my linear environment skills, as well as a good opportunity to showcase my high-detail subaru impreza

and that's my update

alright, here's somewhat of an update...

first off, the last post I made with an update in it was april 1st. In this post I talked about recreating Portland International Raceway.

Well, after doing a bit of research for an unnerving amount of time, I've finally been able to get a good start on it. here's some pictures of what I've got so far.

Here's a bit of grass texturing I was playing around with... ... yes, this eventaully will be used for the grass at the track.

here's the track's roads and pathways, as well as the main track, all built out in 3d already. that was the easy part. Now comes the trackside detail

A bit of playing around with 3d stuff and textures here...

the same scene but from a bird's eye view

here's what I got done today. There's a tiny little grandstand in that picture.

maybe a closer view would help ... not so tiny anymore, eh? (1872 faces for this grandstand and the people in it) no, I don't have any renders that you can really see the people in just yet. Though they are in the first pic of the grandstand, just really miniscule.

so yep.

By the way, if anyone happens to have pictures of some of the buildings and/or trackside detail of this race track, or can take some pictures of that kinda stuff, that would help a whole huge bunch. many thanks if you'd be willing to help me out there. Basicaly pictures of the buildings on the track, the lights, the electric towers, the pedestrian bridge, tents, flags, and any other image you can think of that would help me to not only know how to texture the thing and build the thing, but also a good reference to know where the general area of the things are too. All would be a great help. (This is Portland International Raceway, in Portland, Oregon, just west of Highway 5 and the Portland International Airport.)
