BMW Z4 M Coupe

-----03:45 PM------------
well i thought about it yesterday up at my sister's house, and i really like how the Z4 coupe looks

anyways, i was reading a few days ago (i think it was here) about if you want to finish something.. you have to make a time limit on yourself to put some pressure so you wont give up

well... i decided lets see if i can make a car in 1 day

woke up (got PLENTY of sleep) woke up around 10:30ish, had some breakfast, layed out blueprints and whatnot all this morning, and started somewhere around 11:30ish
then had a few small breaks, probably 10 minutes or so.. get something to drink... probably twice, then at 2:45ish i spent 40 minutes working with my dad checking the brakes on his truck and then just finished off a few things on it

so here it is.. somewhere nearing 6 hours of work

-----06:51 PM-------
heres the headlights

all i've done pretty much is fix up the mesh some more, do the rear parts, and make headlight and brakelight covers

freaking took forever..

tough indeed, but .. i think i got about what i wanted to, obviously i wasnt going to do the WHOOOLE car in one day.. seeing as though this is comming from someone that has .. technically not finished 1 model yet (plus i havent modeled but 2 pairs of wheels and tires... ya lol) but anyways, this is about where i wanted to be, might work on it tomorrow if i have time, got some work from someone else i gotta do, but hopefully i will start on the interior and wheels and other joyfull stuff

i have 2 errors that i know of right now, the bubble behind the brake light area, and just aft of the door there seems to be a bubble area which i will fix in the morning

anyways, cheers for tonigh.. roughly 12 hours work .. not to bad

Wow, man! Impressive work for this short amount of time (actually really good work for any amount of time).

I'm sensing a speedmodeling-contest coming .

btw: yes, XCNuse, that Linsen from rsc (although rsc is the past, you probably meant lfsforum.net ).

lights look amazing, keep it up!

PS i think you are the only one to model this car for more than just the hood and fender ( RedStar started on this car but he didn't finish it )

i dislike the falloff shader in the diffuse on some of those materials.
since your using direct lighting and vray, why not utilize vray's
vraymtls specular highlight ability and glossy reflections.

you might want to reference real car paint and see how it reflects.
the IOR could be increased to obtain higher specular highlight and
glossy relfection also help with increasing the definition in your
reflection.

your lights material can also use some work.

heres some reference.
looks kinda of different from your model.
so i dont know what to follow.

ive also got some other crits material wise and render wise
i can help you with and if you want i can show you some
stuff you can get from vray.

Hey man, that's very impressive work in such a short time. I wish I could model that quick! Looks very tidy too. And that back light looks amazing, any chance of letting us know how you did that reflector material?
