I am sorry to hear this, I am relatively new to 3d modelling and I do get a bit of help from people here.
If you go into tutorials area there are a lot of rendering tips, I hope you do keep going with this. I am sorry I have not the expertise to help you, plus I have not seen the model you have done as it is deleted. ![]() lifes short play hard Holden Panelvan http://www.smcars.net/forums/work-pr...n-tuned-4.html Torana GTR_XU1 http://www.smcars.net/forums/work-pr...a-gtr-xu1.html |

it is really sad to see you giving this one up. it was fun to see this car coming along so nicely. but as for the materials part i think you shouldn't worry all that much. i know you want to make some decent renders. like Prykie and Feral siad. in the tutorials section you can find some nice advice.
maybe you are modeling in 3DSMax but i am not sure. Andy Buck has some tuts on car paint just check it out http://danielbuck.net/index.php?page=tutorials although i can't really understand why this thread has been ignored or just only watched by the members. i think a little more help could do him good. ![]() I'm a Prefectionist |

Wow someone needs to get their pannies out of a bunch. Modeling a car isn't all about how your renders look or if someone helps you or not. I'm sure there are dozens of people that have posted here that haven't gotten their questions answered. You just sit patiently and wait or how about this answer; try and figure it out yourself?
If you're gonna have that 9 year old additude then don't come back. Sorry to get off topic but that just got me mad. |

ok finally got back on...
ok first of all I wanna say sorry to all of you, and I really mean it I know I was kind of a jerk this morning but trust me when I say it had it's reasons, some seriously bad stuff happened to me this morning on which I don't wanna get into right now, kinda personal stuff. But I'm really, really sorry for that post and the way I acted, I shouldn't have taken it out on you guys, because you had nothing to do with it at all. I'm a very patient fellow from nature, you can ask anyone that knows me, just this morning was kind of ..... you know. I'll try to resurect my old posts somehow... and I hope I and you guys could try to forget this asap. REALLY sorry oh btw: the project isn't cancelled in any way and @Silent][Moebius: I already used that tutorial and it looks good, but I'm having more trouble with lighting and studio setups... but I'm just gonna ignore those now and first get the modelling done, I've trown away all my materials and only left a clay material I made with a tutorial. I also know that there are many tut's in tutorial section but most of them are for Vray, and the others don't work anymore so... but I'm not gonna waste time on that anymore. ![]() ![]() Last edited by darth carth : 05-01-2006 at 11:59 AM. |

great to hear the excellent news Darth. sure i know sometimes life just kicks you in the ass and you vent it in the wrong place. it happens, but i'm happy that you were able to appologize like this. you don't get to see stuff like this very much. i respect what you did, but now i'd like to see some up to date pics
![]() what program are you using? if it is causing you so much distress we can't really help if we don't even know what you are rendering with. for a lot of people in this forum a proper studio setup (and i might add, the material is what makes a car look realistic) is one of the more difficult tasks when it comes to completing a job. when i see the work of others i can't say that i would be always satisfied with the result if i were the other user (hehe i hope u can understand  ) so just be a little more patient and get the modeling done and then you can see if you can find a proper tutorial setup for a studio scene and materials. ![]() I'm a Prefectionist |

ok thx everybody for being so understanding
@skb875: thx, I owed you guys that apology, you already helped me out alot on some things, so thx again @Silent][Moebius: Also thx alot, I was still recovering from that morning so I didn't do to much on the car... and I'm using 3dsmax 7, I don't have any special redering programs like Vray or Brazil, and thats what was kind of killing me to find a tutorial for it... but enough about materials and renders, those will have to wait untill the model is done, which doesn't look like to be any time soon . I did however tried to make some sort of molding for the rearlight (the reflective part). ![]() According to me it looks rather good, just gonna make it a little more deeper. Also the part itself is gonna be moved a little bit back, for the glass part. I think that the divisions are like the real one anyway ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by darth carth : 05-02-2006 at 11:28 AM. |

oh ok then, I really toughed they were a little deeper... mind that this might be a pretty baad angle but they are REALLY very shallow... the major part are LED's but there are also 2 or 3 bulbs in it... don't they need a bit of room?
