model is not bad at all.. but the mats could be better, the basic paint i think needs more attention (btw.. dont really favour that color, try something brighter)

yes i agree with mpfive the materials need to be tweaked, and maybe a nice hdri used to bring out those reflections alittle better, but avery clean and nice mesh as far as i can tell.

Maybe try to use some sort of studio-hdri. Also, looking at the wheelarches, the car doesn't seem to have a thickness, or am I seeing that wrong?

You could also try desaturating and blurring your current hdri.
I think your paint gives a certain old look to the car, despite not being as realistic as the others want it to
Excellent job nonetheless - once again

Nice choice of car.
Ever thought of modeling a '49-51 Mercury 2dr Sedan?

I found some bugs you need to tweak.
Hope it helps you.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

mpfive,
Sorry to let you down man, this model will be 100% stock and this includes the color. Check the options available for 1949 here: http://www.hfmgv.org/exhibits/showroom/1949/colors.html
Not very inspiring but that's how they were. Ford was still stern. Flashy colors came only from 55 on. (That is if you don't consider the Crestliner from 1950, a stop-gap 2-door sedan released to warm up sales while the hardtop was getting into production. It was vinyl-topped and two-toned, very attractive. But like the Mercury Monterey, was just a marketing strategy, dlling up column sedans to look like hardtops. In 1951 it hit the ground.)
I will however play with other tones, Birch Gray and Seamist Green to start with.

punxva,
HDRI maps, yes, i keep trying them but always come to the dullest of them -- Beach Probe from Debevec -- because it's the most neutral. As an illustrator who worked 20 years with an airbrush before surrendering to digital media i always try to portray an oldschool illustration-style render. NEVER aiming for realism.

Sub-ZeuZ,
I has thickness. Maybe not too thick but suitable enough.

Silent][Moebius, garethgeezer, FlashG, feral1,T-Shine, rapheal9,
Thanks fellows.

Tol@te,
Thanks a million for the images, they sure helped me get things into correct proportion. I visit eBay almost on a daily basis collecting ref pics but this particular one passed unnoticed. I copied them all now. Will be invaluable when i model the interior too.

Yesterday modeling time was spent in tweaking, nothing else. Lots to correct.

Wow looks awsome.Good that I could help.
Now a request:When you done it would be cool if you could make
blueprints out of your model.I mean some guys here, incl. me would really
be thankful.
Long time ago you did it with your '59 Impala.I use them now for learning new
skills. Could be bigger but OK.

I just saw the hubcaps...man cool 3d letters!!

Sure i will create an unsmoothed genreal planview wire. And make it big.

Didn't have much time to play with it today but here's a minor update. FORD scripts on the side and hubcaps corrected.
