great job on the logo. it looks stunning now

good basic start on the headlights, not much to say until now.

light blue: this area is still a bit off on your model, it needs to be much rounder and less sharp.
green: i'm not quite sure but maybe the shape of that wave isn't extreme enough. you might have to move it a bit further up.

The logo looks sweet now, yeah
You're not smoothing the BMW text, are you? Then just make it a giant n-gon, rather than having that much weird edges

its hard to tell, but several parts of the grill look like they aren't matching up with the body

Hey all

sorry for no updates, i have not long got back from hols and not really had chance to post yet and there has not been a big change in the model hehe.

the front light is almost done just needs a few other things doing to it, i have spent most my time on the back light its quite hard to do and with not really that much experience in this kind of detail its quite tricky.

Has anyone got any tips on how to create the rear light, the inside part not the lense i have tried it but looks abit messed up will have another go.

there is a pic of what i did but its all bumpy and stuff, i did think about fixing it but its too far gone lol.

i have fixed the grill now i think and the things you pointed out S][M

will now get back to it once again.

yay finally some updates. i was already missing you

first of all great job on the headlights! but it looks like you forgot the 'angel eyes' on the smaller lights.

the rear lights look really tough to make. i hope you can get that sorted out

- i'm terribly sorry i haven't noticed this earlier but it looks like the marked area in the front bumper should be shaped differently

right now i can't spot anything else... i hope you can find more time for modeling now!

Model the shape, freeze the mesh (convert to.. something funny only max has ), then just boolean those holes Would look a lot better. perhaps do a double chamfer on the edges aferwards.

Good luck!

hey,

thanks for the idea NightEye, i did try this but it came out all bumpy and nasy maybe i did it wrong hehe, came helpful in doing other things

but in the end i found a different way just used an alpha map on a surface of the light and made a few cylindar's and here is the result, , think it will be ok as it is behind the lense anyway

i have not really had chance yet to do the front bumper S][M sorry hehe will work on it tomorrow now the back light is done,

i have also created the M6 badge thought may aswell go all the way lol,
here are a few pics,

Thanks for the advice thow guys really apreciate it.

This really doesn't work? Show us what results you got..

The M6 badge should be rounded some more, some refpics would tell you how

yeah model the basic shape -> meshsmooth (or turbosmooth) -> boolean and thats it... don't use an additional mesh(turbo-)smooth
badge looks very nice tough

hey,

thanks for the comments guys,

humm yeah i was using meshsmooth and it did work a little better the way darth carth said a mix between the two i figured it out but i think i will still stick with what i have done - the alpha map.

at least i know for next time .

here is a render of the back light and also the front light finished now i think, and also think i have fixed the prob S][M pointed out,

oh and also done the front grill - i know there is alittle bit sticking out needs a bit of fixing.

think i still need to work on the chrome tex thow

C&C's welcome as always - they do help loads

Thanks,

V12

nice job on the rearlight. too bad we don't have any really high res views of that one.

about your headlights. the small light should be smaller in fact or maybe move them up a bit, i guess that should have the same effect. a you can see in the ref pic that the lights are sort of cut off a bit.
http://www.desktopmachine.com/framep...2579&size=1600

i still get the impression that your chrome grille is too wide, or maybe that is the material that makes it look wider because of the reflection, i don't know.

the area marked in green should be completely flat

the yellow edge should be a tad wider

i guess that's about it
