clay render is simple just slap on the default lambert and render with hdri or a light dome. on the other hand how do you do an ambient occlusion render?:?

thats even easier. select all items and on your layers menu at the top, there should be to radio buttons (Display & Render). CLick render and create new layer. Right click on the layer and it should be preset-->occlusion. On that layer you created, there are three icons. Click on the one closet to the layer name (layer1) and that automatically sets up mental ray for you.

either that or i will have to finish the side window. In maya if you use the standard occlusion no matter what mat you have, it whitens it out. I have to learn rendering. I nkow how to do a hdri but im horrible with materials since im a Noob. Sometimes it makes me wish i learned maxs lol

I learnt the very basics (what are verts, edges, polys, when to use extrude, weld verts) in Maya, then switched to max. Took getting used, but it's possible. I thought the buttons were all named a bit more advanced, and hidden in all those modifiers, but once you get that, it's just the same.

Ok heres a render of my my rim Its a small update from the rims above thats on the car but its still small. Ill prob leave my rim like this for now. Maybe ill throw a different center cap but for now i think ill go with this. Updates are going to be slow for a little while because i have 5 weeks left in the semester to finish 4 books and write reports on them. Damn marketing class. O well C&C welcomed

Yes I know the intake is off. its curves at the wrong spot and its tooo sharp in the inner portion. I cant find no good references on the intake. Thats actually my next question 2 anyone who knows, is the intake connected to the Q.P. & how far or deep does the inside of the intake go. anyone wjp knows, please post also, if anyone has good intake shots, post
