Subaru Imprezza WRX Sti Wheel Bumped

So, I'm just playing around with materials and bumpa mapping in maya. And this still has a way to go. Any suggestions for a better map for the sidewall of the tires? I'm pretty sure at this point I'll have to build my own.

And before anyone says it, I know these are the wrong tires. Just was convenient to have these around.

SlimyStrike >> The material looks good, but I am using Maya for all my rendering, so its not going to be able to be used here. But I will try to compare setting differences and see if I can replicate it, thanks man!

and revelli >> my ext render will have the reflection turned up a bit, but I'm trying to play with mental ray to overly blur the reflections, since you really shouldnt see what the tire is reflecting.

So here's what I've been able to do as far as treat goes and the a bit of sidewall as well with just bumpmapping. A few more tweaks to come.

i think, that this treat will look better if you use displacement

Never touched displacement mapping, any good tut's laying around the net? And doing displacement, does that require the use for a hig poly model for any method?

you need a cylinder, then displace modifier and on top of them meshsmooth modifier
in material editor, select your tire material go to maps and put your treat texture there
then map treat on your cylinder with displace modifier, you have there all settings that you will find also in uvw map mod.
but try not to use big strength value for the first time, or your max will crash
