I can get the shape without problems, using a variety of methods, but I always end up with creasing at the front where the channel ends. This is obviously due to the geometry, so I need to know how to deal with this. I'll post another picture of the creasing.

Thanks docile - the first picture I posted did not explain it clearly, but the second did. It's what you suggested.
The problem is, as the second picture shows, I'm getting creasing/stretching around the front of the channel after extruding and getting the look I want. How would and experienced modeller deal with this? I know it needs to chamfered/extruded, but how much and where do you chamfer to avoid the high detail channel affecting the low detail body where they join? |

Hi scorchi (anything to do with the weather? - you'll know what I mean if it is...
)I tried that, but still get the problem. My problem is that I still don't understand the poly modelling process completely, and am not sure about how geometry changes when smoothed - guess there's a lot to learn. |

I'm quite a newb poly modeler myself, in fact befor Jan when I started work with a boss who teaches 3ds (result!) everything I knew came from here. but thanks to the 'University of *Red Star*' my progress was pretty rapid. Check it out! http://www.smcars.net/forums/video-t...tutorials.html |
