Unhappy

Hello

All of my modeling was made before in AutoCAD. I decided to tray to model something in cinema 4D and next time in 3D studio max because AutoCAD has weary bad renderer. My goal in the end is to model buildings in architecture. Which of those two programs do you propose to model a buildings in architecture? My wish in the end is to model realistic loking models of buildings.
I started to model a car because there are a lot of tutorials on the net. To tell you a truth, I think I got lost in the mesh of this car. The car is a far from finished. I have to model a back of the car, glass on the doors and try to fix the doors. What do you all think?

Sorry

I forgot to write that the rims on the car are made by Prykie. Thanks for them and sorry I forgot to mention you.

Well, the basic shape is pretty ok but the seems are not sharp enough and I think you can spot all the other errors yourself pretty easily

About the software, as far as I know AutoCAD is mostly used in the industry for architecture, including buildings and such. I've never used it myself though, but I 'm pretty sure it's 99% for products and architecture. With Cinema you could do a whole lot more, but it's probably harder to model buildings etc.

Looks good but first of all you need to add the phong tag to all your car polygon objects, this smooths them out more secondly you need to bevel the edges that need to be sharper apart from that its going quite well.

PS the mesh is bumpy in some places though, a wire render will help us help u

thanks

Hello

First, thank you all for your advices.

I didn't have any time to work on my model but I made the wire shot of my car. I don’t know how do you create the mesh shot of your car, but I selected the all parts and then used the Print-Screen button. Is there any different way to display on the picture the wire of the car?

- Freefall: I’m new in this and I know that all of you who know the 3D design very well know all the terms and if it I’ sent any problem, could you tell me what you meant with seems?

- I applied phong tag like clix101 said and I could not believe it how simple it was to smooth the surface of the car. I tried to do this on 10 different ways, mostly with ironing tool, and failed to succeed but with this one simple thing from clix101 made a great difference.

- How does this phong tag works. What does mean the angle witch you can change in this tag? Do you need do enable both of the possibilities witch the phong offers you?

- Second, clix101 you told me to bevel the edges. When I created them I used extrude and then moved them into inner of the car to create rounded edges. I did this because all cars have rounded edges, but as you can see it doesn’t look that god. Is this perhaps my mistake? Should I used bevel instead of extrude or should I chose now the edges and then apply the bevel function.

you definatley need to get the seams worked out. shape of model looks good, but the seams are too round. The bottom of the area at front door has bumps due to placement of cuts etc. bottom of rear door curves in or looks like it due to rounded seams.
Keep working on it, looking good overall.

nice start my fellow c4d ers... :-)

i think what clix101 means is make the 'bevel' on the necessary 'edge's before you apply 'hypernurbs'...so it will not going to rounded and make uncontrolable rounded shape...
try to search for this tut on c4d forums

anyway...ure doing very good for the first modeler...
keep up the good work!!!
