modelling help needed (c4d)
hi there dudes... im new to modelling cars. i have read some tutorialsto get in touch with modelig. so i tried it myself. i was trying and trying and tryng and i couldnt find way to do it. so, im tring to model a ferrari f340, i startted with front bumper, and i did model it, but it seems that i cant get smooth surface. i mean its all bumbed. here is a preview - please dont laugh. if anyone can help me i would be grateful (i hope i spelled id correctly). i almost forgot, i work in Cinema4D, coz i still dont have 3DS... and i can upload C4D file if needed. thanks again.
btw, great forum, best i saw so far, awsoeme bp, and i think i'm gonna stick to this forum. ![]() cheers |

i too belive that there is too many polygons, coz i subdivided it few times. now i think i sholudnt. and i dont know how to undo that. on some places i had mismatches with blueprint, you'll see, on that place where that hole i have mismatch on bp. (sorry for my english - tring to do my best
)maybe clix101 can do something, i see that he is a true c4d follower. lol lol. anywayz i didnt think that anyone would acctualy reply. thanks dudes. so, back to modeling (i wont give up). here is rared c4d file. |

hmmm... now i see your problem
what you have done is you have subdivided the mesh from the functions menu. All i can say is thats wrong lol you seem to have it nearly right though Instead of subdividing the mesh from the functions menu just put it under hypernurbs, like u did. If you do that without subdividing it from the function menu your model will be much smoother keep on trying and show your progess here, keep it up ![]() |

hi bheware
yes u have to much polygons. try to start with the hood and then go to the front bumper. don't use triangulars and not to much polygons. if u need more polygons u can cut them with the knife later. do u used a phong-tag? i think there is a greate tutorial from daubermann here. http://www.smcars.net/forums/tutoria...astra-dtm.html try this one. it helps a lot. mfg flopi |

i know its not necessary, but it looks easier to put polygon dots. and i dont understand how can he model with blueprints in perspective window?
@redstar: thanks man, i will contact him. i hope i wont be pain in the ass when i send him pm. lol |

halo... my fellow c4d user...
i've dl ur file & see that u make to many polys... since i make the same project with the same software... i share u my front bumper... i hope its useful... may be u can look at the 'double edges' for controling hypernurbs... and the 'phong shading' tag.... ![]() |

It almost looks like you are bridging your polygons wrong in Cinema 4D. Heres a little diagram on how you should do it with each asterik representing a point and the numbers for the order.
*1 *3 *2 *4 Dont go 1-4-3-2 that will give you triangles. Also, phong tags will make your mesh smoother without subdividing. Put it on and check the angle limit tab. I believe there is a tutorial posted on CGTalk.com somewhere about setting up phong tags for car models. Feel free to contact me on AIM if you need more help. My screenname is the same as my username here |
